Kathy Dahlsad passed away quietly in her sleep at home Friday morning, December 25th, 2020. She was 65 years old.
Kathy was born September 2nd, 1955 to Howard and Lois (Scilley) Black and grew up in North Fargo with her sister and brothers, Mary, Mike, and Kevin. Kathy was an avid figure skater and graduated from Shanley High School in 1973. On February 16th, 1974 she married David Dahlsad and moved to the family farm near Georgetown, Minnesota, where their children, Derek, Simon, and Erin were born.
Over the years Kathy worked a variety of jobs, from designing menus for computer kiosks to managing video rental stores to working for the Riverton (WY) Ranger newspaper. Dave's job took them to Montana, Texas, and Wyoming, before moving back North Fargo, only a few blocks from where she grew up, in 2003.
Kathy loved going to garage sales in search of interesting collectibles like her favorite, toy animals with wheels. She loved caring for animals, especially dogs. She survived breast cancer in 2013 and struggled with alcoholism but had been sober for several years with help from all her friends in AA.
Kathy was preceded by death by her father, Howard, and son, Simon, and is survived by her mother Lois; her siblings Mary, Mike, and Kevin; her husband Dave, children Derek and Erin, and five grandchildren, Kayden, Karsyn, Allie, Destiny, and Hunter.
