Margaret M. Stegman

Margaret M. Stegman, 92, of West Fargo was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Sanford Hospital Hospice Fargo, ND.
Margaret M. Banman was born on October 3, 1928 to Abram and Helen (Suderman) Banman in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada. She attended country school and graduated from Winkler High School, attended Winkler Bible College and attended St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada graduating with her RN. She worked at St. Boniface Hospital then working at Altona Hospital in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. It was there that she met Walter Stegman, the love of her life. They were united in marriage on October 23, 1958 in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada. They farmed in the Tyner area after their marriage until 1999, when they moved to Neche, ND. After Walter’s passing in 2011, Margaret remained in Neche for a couple more years and then moved to West Fargo where she remained until her death. Margaret was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Neche and then Shepherd of the Valley Church of West Fargo. Her true legacy is as a woman who loved the Lord and she demonstrated this in everything she did. She also loved her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face, was there for anyone who needed help, and was well known for her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and pies.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Ruth (Lee) Halvorson of Grafton, ND; sons: Loren (Charlotte) Stegman, New Hope, MN and Terry (Sara) Stegman, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Brett (Katie) Halvorson of Glyndon, MN, Megan (Justin) Hills of Moorhead, MN, Wade Halvorson of Grafton, ND, Joshua (Riley) Stegman of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Aaron (Sammi) Stegman of Port Orchard, WA, Hannah (James) Ripley of Folsom, CA, Philip Stegman of New Hope, MN, Jake and Lyla Stegman of West Fargo, ND. Six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents; sister: Linda Banman; brothers: John Dyck and George Dyck; sisters-in-law, Mary Dyck and Lynda Dyck.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requests that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to either Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Fargo or Sanford Fargo Hospice.
I was sorry to hear of Aunt Margaret’s passing. She was very special to me especially when I was a teenager growing up in the Winkler area. She bought me my first piece for my silverware set. I have fond memories of going to visit her and Walter at their Niche farm together with my mother Lynda Dyck.
