Lucas Dean Hooey, age 29, passed away peacefully, at his childhood home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Lucas was born June 1, 1993, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Jeff and Audrey (Laakso) Hooey at Dakota Hospital. Lucas was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. During childhood Lucas enjoyed organizing neighborhood activities for the kids on and near the best street in the city of Fargo, 21st Street South.
Playing baseball, hockey, and football kept him busy when he wasn’t tousling with his brothers for the video game console. Lucas loved music and learned to play electric and bass guitar. His love of music lead him to be a sound technician for the worship services at Hope Lutheran Church during his high school years. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 2011. He then worked in the construction and home remodeling industry, most recently being the last 5 years alongside his brother.
In recent years, fishing brought Lucas joy, especially portaging into the lake by his grandmothers farm. He also enjoyed four wheeling and deer hunting with his family. He shot the buck of his dreams hunting with his brother in 2019. What Lucas most enjoyed was time spent with his family, whether it be playing cards or watching movies and sports. Many great memories were made during family trips to Florida in the past few years. Lucas was a foodie and loved to cook for the family, especially during his favorite holiday Christmas.
He will be missed dearly by his parents, Jeff and Audrey; his brothers – Alex, Josh (Emily), and Sam; his grandmother, Sharon Laakso; his aunts – Donna (Aaron) Gayhart, Linda (Gunder) Nelson, and Cindy (Mike) Christensen; his uncles – Randy (Wanda) Hooey and Brent (Kami) Hooey; his close family friends, Brenda Criss and Jim Rice; and all his wonderful cousins, neighbors, and friends.
Lucas was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Mary Hooey; his grandfather, Larry Laakso; and his uncle, Dean Laakso.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Share House.
