James Paul “Jim” Iverson passed into the loving and open arms of his Heavenly Father on November 23, 2022 at the age of 64 after courageously battling Grade IV Glioblastoma brain cancer. He was diagnosed just a short six months prior on May 24, 2022. Jim was surrounded by his loving family and beautiful bride of 43 years, Kathryn.

Jim was born to Harold W. Iverson and Arline O. Tatley on July 18, 1958 in Fargo, ND. He attended grade school, junior high, and senior high school in Moorhead, MN.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Lea Huls in 1979. They made their home in Moorhead where they raised their family as God blessed them with two wonderful boys, Paul James and Mark James; and God added to that blessing with their chosen spouses and the arrival of their grandchild. Jim was very active in his children and grandchild’s lives and known by all as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Jim was a man of many talents and hobbies. His first job right out of high school was with Dakota Safe Company as a safe and vault technician. He then began working in sales; over the next 15-years he held various positions at different companies, working his way up to sales management and earning multiple awards along the way. Jim loved being a sales manager because of his passion for helping sales representatives become more than they are and helping them learn the skills necessary to achieve their goals. A motto Jim lived by was “perfection is impossible, but always strive for excellence.”

Jim loved working with his hands and in 2020, he hung up his suit and tie and walked away from sales and decided to pursue another passion, welding. He went on to earn every certification available for welding. He was working most recently at True North Steel in Fargo, ND. Although the physical demand was high and he came home covered in welding dust every day, he always came home with a smile on his face.

Jim was known for his laughter, sense of humor, and a gift for helping others. He was a spiritual warrior, who brought many to Christ whether by opening their home to college students for bible study or by sharing his moving testimony in front of a congregation. Jim was blessed with an outlook of although this world is broken, a greater promise awaits us at the end. He chose to spend his time here on earth helping many through tough times and to hold onto God’s promise that awaits us at the end. He held close to two verses: Revelation 7:17 and 21:4 that brough him comfort all the way through the end of his battle here on earth. Special thanks given by Jim and entire family to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care and support during the last two months of Jim’s time here on earth.

He will forever be missed and lovingly remembered always.

He was Preceded in death by: his Father and Mother, brothers-in-law: Chuck and Randy.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
