Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I worked for Les at Western States Life in High School. He was a great guy with an awesome sense of humor and maintained the building and grounds at the highest level. I will speak for all of the Haakenstad’s as he was the best and I know my Dad Dale just loved him. RIP Lester.

  2. Les has been a cherished member of our family for many years. I will always remember his kindness, huge smile, and his camaraderie with our father Daniel. May your memory be a blessing to all who had the good fortune of knowing you.

  3. I will forever remember your big smile, bigger laugh, and your sense of humor! You will be missed by many! Rest in peace.

  4. “dad” was a wonderful father-in-law, he treated me like his own from day 1. The only one time I ever recall him ever getting mad was the one time when Les Jr and I were still dating and he was “having a chat” with Les about us being alone in the house. I was standing by the piano and looking the other way and thought to myself “I don’t need to stand here and listen to this guy chew out my boyfriend” (I was only 16) and walked out of the room and out of the house. Oh boy did that make “dad” mad!! I never made that mistake ever again ha ha!! He was a wonderful grandpa to my kids and a fantastic “big pappa” to my own grandchildren. He will be missed greatly but I’m happy to know he’s with Bernelda again as he really missed her.

  5. I shared this with Peggy the other day. I was remembering when Grandpa Green moved across the hall from Grandpa Colvin at Sheyenne Crossings. We thought this would be great! Les could keep an eye on our dad and help show him the ropes. Little did we know…. Les was taking our dad on little tours to show him where everything was and making sure he went down for meals and activities. When visiting, we’d ask our dad how his meal was when he went for dinner, and he would reply “I didn’t go for dinner”. If Les was there he would pipe in – “Yes he did, I saw him”. We learned more about what our dad did, or didn’t do, from Les than from our dad. He was a fantastic neighbor and friend for our dad. Les will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

  6. sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to know Lester, he always took a few minutes to stop and say hi when he was walking around west acres on sundays while our church group was having lunch there.

  7. Lester was the greatest uncle. He always made you feel so welcome with his big smile and even bigger hugs. He was a great organizer for the family reunions and got us all involved in his wacky games which we all loved. You will be greatly missed by your many nieces and nephews!

  8. Lester was an awesome father in law and Friend. I miss the time we spent fishing and going to Redhawks games. He always treated me like one of his boys and I will miss him everyday.

  9. I worked with Lester at Western States Life and he never failed to greet me with a smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He made everyone feel welcomed and did a great job keeping the office and grounds looking wonderful. He lived in my neighborhood also. So, I enjoyed the conversations we had as I passed by his house on my walks. He will be missed by so many.

  10. Uncle Lester was amazing. I can remember when I was little and some family went on a car trip when we got close to home I would pretend to be asleep because then he would carry me in the house. Love that man!!

  11. I worked with Lester for many years at Western States Life. The kindest man I have ever known. He was so good at keeping the grounds and office in pristine condition. Rest in peace, Lester.

  12. I worked with Lester at Western States Life also. Lester was a kind and respected employee there and had a great sense of humor. And he absolutely kept the building and grounds in pristine shape. I still remember the red calla lillys.

  13. I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy losing a parent, but I hope the memories of your father will bring you peace and comfort in the days and months ahead. I go past his “old” house every day and always remember him taking care of the beautiful flowers he had around the house or watering the yard. My thoughts and prayers are with you today and always. Rest in Peace, Lester!
