Kathryn “Kathy” Kay Muir, passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 77. Born in Cheney, WA on February 21, 1947, Kathy was the loving daughter of Clarence and Eva Tollefson.

After graduating from Steele High School in 1965, Kathy pursued higher education, obtaining an Associate’s Degree at National College of Business in Rapid City, SD and going on to attend NW Technical College in both Fergus Falls and Moorhead. Throughout her career as a branch manager in the banking industry and various other jobs, Kathy showcased a remarkable work ethic and dedication. Her professional journey led her through various esteemed institutions, beginning at her family’s grocery store, Tollefson’s Super Value, and moving on to Western States Life Insurance Company, and Barnesville Savings and Loan, among others. Kathy lastly retired from Target in 2004 after ten years of service.

In December 1969, Kathy married Douglass Muir, with whom she shared many years before parting ways in April 1990. She was blessed with two sons, Aaron Muir and Darrin Muir, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Kathy’s passion extended beyond her career, as she found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and; doting on her cats. Kathy was known for her delicious cooking and her wonderful baking including detailed decorative cakes, Krumkake and of course her pies.

A warm and kind-hearted soul, Kathy enriched the lives of those around her with her generosity, humor, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication that will be cherished forever.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Aaron Muir (Mindy P), Thief River Falls, MN, and Darrin (April) Muir, Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law Cheryl Muir; grandchildren Amber Muir, St. Cloud, MN, Sarah Muir, Fargo, Levi Muir, Fargo, Taylor Muir, Fargo; and her brother, Robert (Candy) Tollefson, Mesa, AZ; niece Amy Tollefson and nephew Eric Tollefson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eva Tollefson and her step-parent, Marvin Gravesen.
