Michael (Mike) Joseph Moorhouse, 70, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024, at Sanford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born on June 23,1953, in Fargo, the son of Joseph Moorhouse and Dorothy (Kotek) Moorhouse. Mike attended Holy Spirit Elementary and graduated from Fargo North High School in 1971. He served in the US Navy from 1971-1977 and the Army National Guard from 1977-1978. He served in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Hancock (“Hannah”).

On October 3, 1981 he married Diane Seifert in Perham, Minnesota and they resided in Fargo. From 1978 to 2004 he worked as a printer for St. Luke’s Hospital/MeritCare. From 2004 to 2015 he worked for Integrity Windows.
In his early years, Mike would spend his weekends camping and road tripping. He loved spending time in Duluth to watch the ships come in. He enjoyed traveling to South Dakota for target shooting and prairie dog hunting. He spent winters on a bowling league at Red River Lanes and preparing his marigold seeds for the garden. Summers were spent maintaining flower and vegetable gardens. His later years included teaching himself braille, spending time with his grandchildren and keeping up with the Red Hawks, Twins, Vikings, and Bison football.

The family would like to thank staff at the VA, Dr. McCabe, Dr. Ali, Nora, Tammy, Tempest, Lindsay, and Jennifer and the ICU staff at Sanford for their wonderful, loving care.

Mike is survived by Diane Moorhouse, the mother of his children; his daughters Amy (Emmanuel) Nojang and their children Justin, Tina, Aden, and Dieva of Fargo; Kelsey Moorhouse (Abdikhayr Aden) and their children Zachariah, Alazayiah, Mohamed, and Jamilla of Fargo; and Natalie Moorhouse (Tamil Kadir Rajavel) and their daughter Avira of Carver, MN, and bonus grandchildren Elijah and Elyonah. 11. To Amy and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. As you mourn the loss of a dad and husband, I mourn the loss of a brother in arms. Remember Mike was part of the 1% who defend this Nation every day. Remember a soldier/sailor never die: he is resting.

To Mike, I personally thank you for your service to the Nation. As you continue to rest, your brothers and sisters in arms will continue to fight what you started. With us you will continue to serve. Rest well Big Dawg. Army Strong.

  12. Big brother, I am going to miss our NDSU football texts, your positive attitude about life, and the birthday and holiday wishes you would text to me and Brad. You were a great big brother, brother-in-law, father and grandfather. Rest in peace.

  15. I met Mike when we both served on the USS Hancock. We were both North Fargo kids. He later helped me out with some VA stuff. I’ll miss him and his texts. Thanks Mike for your help.

  16. Mike was one of best “outlaws”. I remember him, Don, and Joe G. teasing me relentlessly, but always hugging me in the end! Mike loved to chat. I have many fun memories sitting with him in the living room chatting away. Once he had your ear, he wasn’t letting go…he could talk for hours. Everyone keeps mentioning his smile… the best… I honestly don’t think I ever saw him without it, and I’m so happy I got to see him again at Nat’s shower last Fall. RIP, Brother-In-Law. Fly high ❤️
