Jeanne Roen

Jeanne’s service will be livestreamed below at 2:00 PM Monday, June 24, 2024:

Jeanne Rae (Montplaisir) Roen peacefully left our world on June 19th, 2024 in Moorhead, Minnesota. She was surrounded by her beloved family with the support of Red River Valley Hospice and the fabulous staff at River Pointe Assisted Living of Moorhead.

Our beloved, and often feared, Jeanne Rae was born on September 7th, 1936 in Comstock, Minnesota and graciously brought home by Adolph and Jeanette Montplaisir. Raised as a devout Catholic, Jeanne attended Comstock High School and later married George Roen on November 21st, 1953 where they built their lives in Hickson, North Dakota. As a dedicated military and farmer’s wife, she welcomed and raised three beautiful girls Christie, Jamie, and Loni. Later in life, alongside her beloved partner Jim Lundstrom they founded and ran Team Sales where their success triumphed for many years, and their trusted clients became family.

Jeanne shared the best years of her life raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were touched by her wisdom and enduring love. We have fond memories of “Mean Jeanne” as some playfully called her, but we knew she held us all accountable to be the best versions of ourselves. She was fiercely protective over those she considered family, and made it a point to let us know even in her final days “I love you so much, don’t ever forget that”. Her selfless dedication to others set a powerful precedent in a life of righteous living, and lives on in our hearts.

Anyone who knew Jeanne knew about her obsession with teddy bears, as they adorned her home, clothing, and holidays. It is said that while the teddy bear began as a satirical response to Teddy Roosevelt’s merciful hunting trip, in our western culture they represent love, comfort, and childhood. It is entirely fitting for Jeanne to surround herself with the mere symbol of traits that she bestowed upon so many of us during her 87 years of life. Her love was widespread and unconditional, while the comfort and safety of her presence showed us her true “Mama Bear” nature. We can especially look to the younger generations to share stories of how their childhood’s were blessed with such a compassionate and fierce protector.

Her legacy lives on in her surviving children Christie West, Jamie Herbold, and Loni Graham (Willy), as well as her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has been happily reunited in the heavenly kingdom with her previous husband George Roen, partner Jim Lundstrom, parents Adolph and Jeanette Montplaisir, Grandson Cody Hood, and Great Grandson Corbyn Peterson. May we celebrate that she has been welcomed by familiar and cherished family in their everlasting resting place.

Services to honor Jeanne’s life will take place at Boulger’s Funeral Home in Fargo, North Dakota on Monday, June 24th.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with formal services beginning at 2 o’clock. Procession will follow the services after coffee and dessert. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
