Betty Fradet

betty fradet

Betty Jane Fradet, 84, of West Fargo, ND, passed away on October 31, 2024. She was under hospice care at her home, with her family by her side.

Betty was born March 7,1940, to William and LouCeil Wallace. She started school in Fingle, ND, and graduated from West Fargo in 1957. Her family spent summers at their farm in Forbes, ND. After high school, she attended the University of North Dakota.

Betty married Patrick Fradet on April 20, 1963, at Horace (ND) Lutheran Church. Betty and Pat made their home in West Fargo and raised three children, Teresa, William, and Julie. Betty enjoyed spending time with her children, grandson Nicholas and extended family (for someone voted most shy in high school, she could sure talk); going to the lakes fishing (always trying to sneak the small one into the live well); and hobbies including sewing, quilting, and gardening. Betty’s greatest passion was quilting, especially making beautiful creations with many of her friends. Betty was an active lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, belonging to Piecemakers and Circle.

After her marriage, Betty worked for West Fargo Drug until she decided to stay at home to raise her children. She told the story that her children were so happy to have her home, they sat in her lap for two weeks straight! In the late 1970s, Betty returned to work as a part-time evening phone enumerator for North Dakota Ag Statistics; eventually she was promoted to supervisor. She also worked full time at the North Dakota State Farm Service in Fargo, ND, until she retired, 20 years ago.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; father, William Wallace; mother, LouCeil Wallace (Smith); brother, Billy Wallace; brother-in-law Dennis Ohe; sister-in-law, Carol Fradet; and brother-in-law Mike Fradet.

Betty is survived by her daughter Teresa Fradet, Raymore, MO; son, William Fradet, Moorhead, MN; daughter Julie Fradet and grandson, Nicholas Fradet, West Fargo; and sisters Doris Ohe, Fargo, and Eileen Stangland, West Fargo.

Celebration of Life will be held November 12, 2024, with visitation at 10:00 am and services at 11:00 am at Faith Journey Lutheran Church, 127 2nd Ave E, West Fargo, ND.

  5. I am so sorry to see the loss of Betty. She was such a wonderful kind and ‘funny story teller’ person. She was great to work with at Farm Service Agency and we all sure did enjoy her. I still have a butterfly sun catcher up from her that she gave me at work. Sympathies and prayers to all her family at this sad time. Claudia Decker

    • I am so sorry for your loss. I went to high school with her son and the later in life ended up working with Betty at FSA. She made me a couple cute things when I had my babies. She was so generous like that. She was a funny lady and told the neatest stories. We had some good laughs together. I will always remember Betty. Prayers to her family during this time.

  6. Bill, we are so sorry to hear about your mom. She definitely knew she was loved. You have been such a loyal and loving son. We hope you have wonderful memories of time with your mom and the hobbies you have in common.
