Richard C. Krupich, born on August 20, 1928, in St. Paul, MN, to Chris and Cecelia Krupich, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.

Rich grew up in St. Paul and, after graduating from Cretin Hall High School, attended Dakota Business College for two years. Following his education, he moved to Fargo and began working in sales for Sweeney Brothers until he entered the U.S. Army, where he completed his basic training in Alabama and proudly served during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1952, Rich returned to Fargo and resumed his work with Sweeney Brothers until 1959. That year, he and his brother, Ron, embarked on a new venture, working with their father-in-law to found Gavin Contracting, a construction company.

On October 10, 1953, Rich married the love of his life, Dolores Gavin, at St. Anthony of Padua in Fargo. In 1975, Rich transitioned into a successful career with Swanston Equipment, specializing in Bobcat sales, where he worked until his retirement in 2005.

Rich was a proud life member of both the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. His passions extended beyond work and family; he found great joy in hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Some of Rich’s fondest memories were made during his annual deer hunting trips in Medora, ND, with his kids. One story that never failed to get a laugh was his legendary 350-yard shot from the truck, where he managed to clip the antler, a story that became a favorite among family and friends. Of course, Rich eventually got that deer, and its mount proudly hangs on the fireplace at the cabin, a lasting reminder of his sharp aim and cherished adventures. Equally dear to his heart were his fishing trips to Devils Lake, first with his classmates and later with his sons and grandsons. These adventures were filled with laughter, stories, and the occasional mishap, often featured by Rich shouting: “Bear shit!”

Rich and his brother, Ron, began building their dream retirement place on Potato Lake, a magnificent log cabin constructed from old telephone poles. The cabin was split into two sides, for each family. Rich was blessed to spend his retirement years at the cabin, savoring peaceful mornings and quiet evenings on the deck with a cigar in hand, overlooking the serene lake. His kids and grandkids were fortunate to share countless summers there, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Rich’s memory will be lovingly carried on by his sister Ginny (Pat) McDonald, and his children: Margaret (Harvey) Hanel of Bismarck, ND; Steven Krupich (Debbie) of Glyndon, MN; Mark Krupich (Debra) of Wolverton, MN; Jim Krupich (Nancy) of Christine, ND; Laura Krupich of Fargo, ND; and Kenneth Krupich (Amanda-Mo) of West Fargo, ND. He was also blessed with ten grandchildren (J.J., Jeremy, Angie, Trista, Brendan, Patrick, Ellie, Amanda, Sarah, and Jake), 7 great-grandchildren (Lillian, Brody, Aislyn, Hunter, Gavin, Brecken, and Brenleigh and one great-great-grandchild (Knoxley).

He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Dolores, his brother, Ron (Audrey), sister Mary (Harry), and his parents, Chris and Cecelia.

Rich’s warmth, dedication, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
