Bette’s service will be live streamed starting at 6 p.m, on April 11th,2025.
Bette Jane Anderson was born on July 14, 1932, to William Schaffer and Olga Schaffer (later Gettel) in Edgley, North Dakota. She married Clayton “Bud” Anderson on June 10, 1950.
Bette began working at a young age in her parents’ restaurants, which served and supported the local farming community. She later worked in other establishments as well, always bringing a strong sense of dedication and care to everything she did. Later in life, she became a housekeeper, a role she devoted many years to with pride and a tireless work ethic.
Bette and Bud went on to have four children: Terry, Timmy, Karen, and Rick.
She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota, where she was involved with the Homemakers Club for 25 years. Bette and Bud were also active members of the Moose Lodge, where they met many dear friends whom Bette cherished deeply. She cared for the children in her life—both family and friends’ children—as if they were her own, forming lifelong bonds that became like family.
Bette treasured her time at the lake on Long Lake at Ridgewood, where evenings around the campfire with friends brought her great joy. In retirement, she devoted herself to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible. Family was always Bette’s highest priority. Her love and warmth made everyone feel welcome—loving others came naturally to her.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton “Bud” Anderson; her mother, Olga Gettel; her father, William Schaffer; her son, Timmy Anderson; her daughter, Karen Wainscott; her sister, Emma; and her brothers, Lawrence Schaffer and John Gettel.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Anderson and Rick Anderson (Jodi Leach); her grandchildren, Micah (Chris) Raths, Brandon (Hayley) Anderson, Kylee (Chris) Buchanan, Troy Wainscott, and Lisa Wainscott (Eric Gault); and her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Landon, Dylan, Paula, Sarah, Callum, Gabe, Jaxon, and Eira.

Because of health issues we will not be able to join you for your mom’s service, but our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Jerry fondly remembers when Bette was his babysitter when he was little. So they had a long special relationship.
I have fond memories of Bette. She loved everyone unconditionally(especially kids!). Such a sweet lady! Carla Sandry
Bette touched our family stretching way back to a young friend, Arlene Melicher, from Kulm North Dakota. We have fond memories of Bette cleaning, organizing and counseling throughout our families’ generations. She will be forever cherished and remembered. Her life lessons continued in all of us.
Our sympathies to her entire family
What a wonderfull person who truly touched our family with her love and caring. We got to know Bette in the late 70’s when she came to work for us.
We had three children all school age, and when Judy entered the work force we needed help with household chores and some one to be there when our kids came home from school. Bette quickly became a part of our family and our kids always felt safe to know she was there for them, not only when they came home from school but to go to her with any concerns. She would even take them to a doctors appointment if we could not make it.
Rest in peace Bette, you will always be in our memories as part of our family.
