Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Hanson

Liz passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND, at the age of 95.

Elizabeth Ann Riemer was born on August 7, 1929, the daughter of Gustav and Dorothy (Engel) Riemer in Hillsboro. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Hillsboro and received her education, graduating from Hillsboro High School.

Liz was united in marriage to Melvin Hanson in November of 1950. Together they made their home in Hillsboro where they raised their two sons – Thomas and Daniel. Liz loved spending time on the golf course in Hillsboro and was very proud to be inducted to the North Dakota Women’s Golf Association Hall of Fame. She was also a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Liz is survived by her son, Thomas (Andrea) Hanson of Grand Forks, ND; her three grandsons – Brian (Dani) Hanson of Grand Forks, ND; Eric (Janelle) Hanson of Fargo, ND; and Tyler Otto of Hillsboro, ND; her three great-grandchildren – Avery Hanson, Brody Hanson, and Rhett Hanson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Hanson; her son, Daniel Hanson; and her brothers – Vernon Riemer, Donald Riemer, Robert Riemer and Howard Riemer.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 AM Monday, April 14, 2025, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND – with a visitation one hour prior
BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro
