Dale Irvin Phillipson died in Fargo, ND on May 11, 2025 with his wife, son and daughter near him.
He was 83 years old. Dale was born on January 24, 1942 in Whitehall, WI. He lived a great life, growing up on a farm near Coral City, WI where he met the love of his life, Andrea, in 2nd grade. Dale’s time in Germany in the US Army from 1961-1964 spawned a love of Germany and the German language. He married Andrea in 1967 and went on to teach German and Social Studies at Pine Island High School in Pine Island, MN for over 30 years. While he loved teaching, he would say that the best parts of teaching were June, July, and August, during which time he took his family…Andrea, son Erik, and daughter Kari (Bollant) on summer vacations to 49 states and a couple of trips to Europe, including a 7-week, 13 country tour of Europe in 1984.
After retiring from teaching, Dale and Andrea embarked on a 2nd career, leading trips to Europe and other parts of the world for nearly 20 years. Dale was a great husband, father, and teacher. He was a Christian, so no worries there. He’s free. Dale’s easy-going nature, love of laughter and storytelling will be greatly missed. He was a great Dad and friend.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 10AM viewing and 11AM funeral at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1549 East Ave, Zumbrota, MN.

So sorry to hear about Herr Phillipson. He was a wonderful man who I had the pleasure to go to Europe with twice. Once on the high school German trip and once as an adult to Italy. Fabulous trips. Also good friends of my parents and attended bible study together. I pray the Lord wrap you in strength and comfort through this different time.
