Myrna Joyce Schott

After a short illness, Myrna Joyce Schott went to be with the Lord July 28, 2025 at SMP Health St. Raphael in Valley City, North Dakota. Her family was by her side hours before she went to be with the Lord remembering her influence on all of us, singing hymns and praying.

Myrna was born September 23, 1941 to Otto E and Esther Schott on a farm west of Kulm, ND. She graduated from Kulm High School in 1960 and was active in the Kulm High School band and the Kulm Congregation Church. She loved playing the piano, sewing doll clothes for her younger sister, and baking and frosting cookies for the family. One of her favorite things to do was to visit her Grandmother Christina after school. She’d stop by there almost every day and spend time with her grandmother and eat cookies. After high School graduation, Myrna attended and graduated from Dakota Business School in Fargo. She worked in Fargo for a few years and moved to Denver. But after a year in Denver, her dad told her he’d buy her a car if she moved back to North Dakota to be closer to family. Myrna loved driving to work in her 1965 baby blue Mustang in Fargo when she moved back gladly.

She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior on March 13,1974 and decided to get missionary training. She graduated from Prairie Bible Institute with a 4-year Bible degree at Alberta, Canada in 1979. After more training in Child Evangelism at Warrenton, MO, Myrna served in Huron, South Dakota with Child Evangelism. Myrna had a deep reverence for God’s Word, loved Bible Study Fellowship and was admired for her gentle kindness to anyone she knew.

Later she moved back to Fargo and volunteered to do children’s work at Metropolitan Baptist Church, enjoyed watching over an elderly woman for at time and then worked at the Holiday Inn Hotel until her retirement.

She was at Maple View Memory Care for several years in Fargo where she loved to lead in singing hymns to her friends. She was transferred to SMP Health St. Raphael in Valley City, North Dakota Rehab after a fall.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Otto and Esther Schott, her brother Gilbert Bruce Schott, her brother-in-law W. King Anderson. She is survived by 3 brothers: Delyle (Lory) Denver, CO; Wayne (Marcia) Walker, MN; Bart (Linsey) Kulm, N.D.; and one sister: Jeanette (Meridian, ID); and her sister-in-law Liane (Mesa, AZ); and 7 nieces and 5 nephews and their families.

A family graveside memorial will be held at the Kulm Cemetery on Sunday August 3, 2025 at 2:00PM with a gathering following at the Kulm Community Center.
