AnnaLea Locken, born on May 24, 1931, to Albert and Marion Mueller on their family farm in Pekin, ND, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025.

AnnaLea grew up alongside her sister Patricia Holm, and brother William Mueller. She graduated from McVille High School and pursued further education at Interstate Business College in Fargo ND. Her professional career included roles at the Boy Scouts of America, Merchants National Bank, the Gilbert C. Grafton American Legion Post 2 of Fargo, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND, where she retired after 16 years of dedicated service.

In 1955 AnnaLea married Robert E. DuBord. She learned to love camping and was a skilled wild game cook. She was a loving wife, mother, and an unrivaled homemaker, cook, and baker. Her favorite books were cookbooks that she often read just for entertainment. Together, her and Robert raised their two daughters, Annette DuBord and Nancy Vihlen, who learned to share the same passions. She was also a proud grandmother to Lars Vihlen.

After Roberts passing AnnaLea found love again and married Peter E. Locken in 1986. The couple split their time between their cherished lake cabin on Eagle Lake and winters in Harlingen, TX. AnnaLea had a zest for life that shone through her love of cooking, trying new foods and restaurants, walking, laughing and spending time with family and her many friends. In last several years she lived at Gracepointe at Bethany in her beloved apartment where she found old friends and made many new friends. She led a busy social life there and rarely missed a function. Her warmth and joy left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.

AnnaLea was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Marion Mueller, sister Patricia Holm, brother William Mueller, husbands Robert DuBord and Peter Locken.

She is survived by daughters Nancy (Dana) Vihlen, Annette DuBord (Cameron Peterson), grandson Lars Vihlen and sister in law Anez Thompson.

  1. So sorry to read about AnnaLeas passing. She was my neighbor on Oak Street back in the late 70’s and my 2 y/o daughter would love to visit her. Unable to pronounce AnnaLea she called her “Opa E” Later on we worked together at BCBS and shared some good times together She was a kind fun loving person and will be greatly missed!
    Fly withe the angels, AnnaLea❤️

  2. Heaven has gained an angel…AnnaLea was a dear, caring person who loved life and cherished her friends. I am blessed to have known this remarkable woman! She will be greatly missed at Grace Pointe!

  3. Anna Lea, there are no words to express what a beautiful person were to all the lives you touched! I had the pleasure of meeting you initially when my mother lived two doors down. And again after she returned to the skilled nursing side of Bethany. Such a sweet, kind and uplifting soul! God got a amazing angel, but you will be very missed down here. My mother, my sister and I will forever love you and remember your smile ❤️

  4. AnnaLea’s bright smile and positive attitude will be missed! My Mom, Loyse, lived for a time down the hall and she and AnnaLea became friends, sharing many a laugh. She also generously shared her tasty baked breads during several of the times I visited there. They had the chance to meet up again when Mom later moved back to Bethany’s skilled care. While Mom couldn’t get to AnnaLea, AnnaLea came to Mom’s room, and were able to meet in the chapel and the 42nd Street Diner.
On behalf of my Mom, and her daughters Annette and Sheri, thanks for the sweet memories, AnnaLea. Heaven has received its brightest angel.

  5. We are so sorry to hear about AnnaLea’s passing. She was my great aunt, and married to my great uncle Pete. My son Brayden, met her for the first time when he and I visited with her last summer and we shared memories over dinner together. He still talks about what a sweetheart she was! We had such an enjoyable evening together. We also shared so many laughs together! She was a beautiful person inside and out. I’ll always remember her smile!! I know you she is with some very special people in heaven❣️🕊️

  6. Nancy has been one of my best friends since childhood so I spent a lot of time with her family in Fargo
and at their lake cottage. I remember AnnaLea for her laughter and delicious food: lasagna for special occasions and blueberry pie at the lake. Every time I make pie crust I think of AnnaLea! Thank you for the wonderful memories, AnnaLea!

  7. Deepest sympathy to AnnaLea’s loved ones. She was my forever Texas buddy! She, Pete, my Hubby and I shared many great times with day trips to Mexico, happy hours at their home, and her amazing cullinary talents. Most of all, I will always remember her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and her heart of gold. I know Anna she is in a very special place in her Heavenly Home. Love, hugs and God Bless, Marsha Franco

  8. Thanks for letting us know. I’m a person that visited her around the 20th of July at Bethany Home and we had lots of conversation for about two hours. On the trip that I was on to find Merrlyn’s relatives, I did not find anyone representing Millers. After things get settled down, could you give me a call? I have grand kids in Fargo and we get there occasionally. My condolences are with you.
