Darlene K. Redfield
June 14, 1957 ~ November 14, 2025
Darlene Redfield (Johnson), 68, of Fargo, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Bethany Retirement Living Center after a long and courageous battle with numerous health issues.
Darlene was born on June 14, 1957, to Earl and Mavis Johnson in Fargo, ND and spent her whole life in the Fargo area. Growing up on a farm just outside Fargo, she developed a lifelong love for horses and animals of all kinds. Throughout her life, Darlene’s home was never without the companionship of both a dog and a cat—each one loved deeply.
In 1975, Darlene finished high school early and attended Moorhead Tech, proudly graduating that same year. She went on to dedicate her entire career to the insurance industry, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2018.
Darlene met Richard “Dick” Redfield, the love of her life, in 1975. After their very first meeting, she told her friends, “I’m going to marry that guy,” and she was right, Darlene and Dick were united in marriage in 1977 and soon welcomed their only child, Shaune, in 1978.
Throughout her life, Darlene enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and camping. Many cherished weekends were spent at Sunset Island Campgrounds on Leaf Lake alongside her parents. She and Dick also loved visiting casinos, including annual trips to one of their favorite places—Deadwood, SD. Another highlight came in 2013, when they traveled to Jamaica with family and friends to celebrate the wedding of their son Shaune and his wife Veronica.
In her later years, Darlene found joy tending to her flowers and garden, doing yardwork, and caring for her home and family.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Dick; her son Shaune (Veronica); and her beloved grandson Easton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mavis Johnson; her sister, Linda; and her grandparents.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Bethany Care Team, with a very special thank-you to her favorite nurse, Jessica, for her exceptional compassion and kindness. Your care will never be forgotten.
