Live Stream:

Jane Marie Mathew, Fargo, left her earthly home on Saturday, December 13, 2025 to meet her parents and many beloved dogs in heaven. Jane died while doing one of her favorite things – running.

Jane Marie Adele Faber was born June 21, 1956 to John and Anna (Hinnenkamp) Faber in Melrose, MN. Jane Marie was the youngest of four children and her siblings only mildly resented the fact she was always able to get away with more. After graduating from Melrose High School, Jane attended Rainy River Community College in International Falls, MN to obtain her LPN degree. This began Jane’s nursing career that took her from Minnesota to Arizona, Missouri, and North Dakota.

On May 4, 1987, Jane welcomed her favorite daughter, Natalie Ann Wolff, into the world. Two years later, on September 6, 1989, Jane delivered her favorite son, Evan John Wolff, and brought him home in a limo. This started a rivalry that continues to this day between the siblings as to who’s Jane’s real favorite child.

Always active, Jane participated in a plethora of sports, including tennis, racquetball, bowling, softball, pickleball, and running. Her competitive streak didn’t end there; Jane loved playing any and all games with her kids, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Her family shared MANY laughs staying up late at night playing Guesstures, Sequence, Yahtzee, LCR, or Third Time’s a Charm.

When Natalie and Evan were kids, they tried and failed to teach their mom the word “no”. You could find Jane anywhere and everywhere – heading Clara Barton’s PTA, coaching Natalie and Evan’s sports teams, dressing up as a mascot – nothing was out of her reach. When her kids got older, she took to the stands, never missing a game and often carrying one of her famous homemade signs.

Jane pivoted from nursing to processing medical insurance claims and found her true passion. Yes, Jane loved working with insurance companies, and this led to her managing a dental practice until her retirement. Ever the busy bee, Jane then took an interest in working in soybean and sugar beet fields part time. Harvest was her favorite! She was incapable of slowing down.

Jane had a servant heart and was rarely at home; you were more likely to find her volunteering somewhere across town. It’s impossible to name all of the organizations that got a piece of Jane’s time. Jane was particularly passionate about P.E.O., a women’s philanthropic educational organization, and served on the state board and as an international delegate. She was a member of Chapter AE for many years before chartering Chapter BE in 2009.

Jane found the most welcoming community at First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. In typical Jane fashion, she dove in head first and quickly became involved with various groups within the church. She was even ordained a deacon in 2019. Her faith in God provided a light and path for her life.

In 2019, Jane met the love of her life, Prakash Mathew, at their church. Later that year Prakash proposed on Thanksgiving, Jane’s favorite holiday, in front of their families. Of course Jane said “YES”. Covid derailed their original wedding plans, but they were united in marriage on May 31, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. Through this marriage, Jane became a “bonus mom” to Prakash’s sons, Trevor and Christopher. Natalie and Evan were relieved that Trevor came with twin daughters, and Jane thrived at being their Amma.

Prakash and Jane were able to travel the world together, including a trip to India to meet Prakash’s family. Jane was delighted they welcomed her with open arms! They also did a mission trip to Kenya, traveled to Scotland for Christopher and Ariene’s wedding, and visited other European countries. At the time of her death, Jane was beginning to pack for their annual roadtrip to South Carolina to visit her children and escape North Dakota’s winter for a few months.

Jane’s family finds comfort in knowing she spent her final day doing many of her favorite things – volunteering, dressed as an elf, with her husband and granddaughters, ringing bells and singing Christmas carols. Her family would like to thank the first responders and emergency medical personnel at Essentia. In her death, her wish to be a donor was fulfilled and many people will now live better lives because of her selfless choice to be a donor.

Jane leaves behind an enormous amount of family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Prakash, and their dog, Wrango; daughter, Natalie Wolff of Bluffton, SC; son, Dr. Evan Wolff (Dr. Cassie Beard) also of Bluffton, SC; bonus sons Trevor (Emily) Mathew of Fargo and Christopher (Ariene) Mathew of St. Paul, MN; granddaughters Izzy and Zara of Fargo; and granddogs Reptar, Adele, Champagne, Mimosa, Grace, and Callie. Also surviving Jane are her friends who became family: Dan, Chelsea, Rilo & Alida Simmons; Kate & Frank Latta; Mary & Gus Staahl; and Andy Giddings. She is also survived by her older siblings Jack (Peg) Faber, Joann (Gary) Schuler, Judy Rassier, and Prakash’s siblings, along with their families. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Ron Rassier.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Jane’s favorite organizations in her memory: The New Life Center, Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe, The Fargo Theatre, and 4 Luv of Dog Rescue.

Jane/Ma, this loss feels insurmountable. Please watch over us as we navigate this new life. This sucks.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    The Staff of Heritage Dermatology

  2. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

  3. I was on the team that collaborated with Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe and First Pres to serve meals once a month to those in need and to promote relationships with our church neighbors. This mission was doing well until COVID. I prayed for someone in the church to step up and be liaison for this project as I could not continue in that role. I never discussed this with Jane but she became the leader for this mission! Many meals were served with her smiling face in front of the truck and in the kitchen packing lunches. We have been so blessed by Jane’s servant spirit! RIP, Sherri

  4. Prakash and family, I am so very saddened for your loss. Truly my thoughts and prayers have and will be with you all as you grieve. I will be making a contribution to one of the suggested charities in memory of Jane.

  5. I am blessed to have had Jane as my friend& above that, my appreciation for her devotion & attention to my grand daughters, Rilo & Alida. She truly was their grandmother, not in blood but in spirit. She was so loved & will be so missed.

  7. Natalie and Evan…
I’m so sad about Jane’s flight to Heaven . I think of the absolute fun times we all had together from preschool on. Natalie you wrangling the boys, your mom making the BEST treats, playing with you and the dogs, and always up for anything. Jane made childhood magical because she never lost her inner child or her love of others.
My heart breaks for all of you .
    I’ll treasure those memories forever.
    Sending so much love.
