Ryan "Goof" J. Gunderson

Ryan “Goof” J. Gunderson, a loving husband, devoted father, and friend to many, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, surrounded by family. Born on August 11, 1967, in Fargo, North Dakota, he was the son of James and Gail (Houchen) Gunderson and spent his early years in Fargo, where he attended Fargo North High School.

Ryan was a true gem who brought joy to everyone around him. He met the love of his life, Veronica Grossman, at Skateland, and they tied the knot on November 13, 1992. After making their home in West Fargo, they settled in Gardner, ND, where they raised their family.

Known for having music going wherever he was—especially his beloved KISS—Ryan was hardly ever seen without a Coke in hand. A die-hard sports fan, he passionately cheered for the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. His incredible knowledge in subjects ranging from history to planes and wrestling made him a go-to guy for fun facts and trivia.

Above all, Ryan cherished his family. He was a doting husband to Veronica, and a proud father, always there to offer support and love. As the only guy in a house full of girls for years, he embraced the chaos, and his heart grew even bigger when his grandson joined the crew. His impact on those around him was immeasurable, and he will be missed dearly.

Ryan is survived by his spouse, Veronica; children, Shawnda Gunderson, Samantha (Kyle Pansch) Gunderson, Evra Grossman; grandchildren, Kyler, Riley, and Sophie; mother, Gail; and his lifelong best friends, Jon and Janna Johnson.

Ryan was preceded in death by his dad, James; grandparents; father and mother in law; many aunts and uncles; and very special friends, John and Jeanette Johnson.

Services will take place for Ryan at a later date.
