Maria De la Luz Alejandro

Maria De la Luz Alejandro, affectionately known as Lucy, passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on August 31, 1964, in Hillsboro, North Dakota, Lucy was a vibrant soul whose life was filled with creativity, compassion, and a zest for storytelling. She grew up in Donna, Texas, where she developed a love for the arts that would remain with her throughout her life.

Lucy graduated from Donna High School and continued her education at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Her passion for design led her to a rewarding career with esteemed organizations such as Fast Signs, Merck Medco, and the Dallas Sheriff’s Office, where she contributed her talents and skills.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lucy was an active member of the community and devoted herself to her family and friends. She was a cherished member of the Irving Bible Church, where she nurtured her faith and built lasting relationships. Lucy’s spirit was evident in her hobbies, which included arts, crafts, camping, and sewing. Her dedication to volunteering showcased her kind heart and commitment to helping others.

Family was at the forefront of Lucy’s life. She is survived by her beloved children, Giovanni and Valentin, and her daughter Paloma. Lucy adored her grandchildren, Penelope and Octavia, who brought her immense joy. She leaves behind her mother, Maria del Carmen, two brothers, Servando (Maribel) and Arturo (Monica), and four sisters, Connie (Mario), Gris (Faustino), Alma, and Pricilla. The family tree extends further with nieces Monica, Matilda, Abigail, Sophia, Sarai, and nephews Daniel, Donovan, Carlos, Albert, Danny, Alex, Arthur, and Leandro.

Preceding her were her father, Servando Alejandro, brother David Alejandro, and sister Gloria Alejandro, all of whom will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who loved Lucy.

Lucy was known for her captivating storytelling, always entertaining her listeners with vivid tales that could elicit laughter or tears. Her ability to weave stories with both humor and emotion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to hear her narrate.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas and VNA Hospice Services for their compassionate care and dedication during Lucy’s final days.

A visitation to honor Lucy will be held on December 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Chism-Smith Funeral Home, located at 403 South Britain Road, Irving, Texas, 75060. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose warmth and creativity touched the lives of so many.
