Born in: Fargo, North Dakota
Resided in: Moorhead, Minnesota

Joanne Kay Wagner, 84, passed away peacefully on January 15,2026 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN.

Joanne was born to Arthur and Gladys (Moberg) Engstrom in Fargo, ND on April 9, 1941. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central High School. She married Charles Wagner on November 18, 1961, and they made their home in Fargo, welcoming 3 sons and 1 daughter.

They moved to Aurora, Colorado in 1992 and lived there for over 20 years before moving home again in 2018. They settled in a small town in Minnesota and enjoyed being with family and spending time at the lake.

Joanne spent much of her life as a homemaker and took her job as a full-time mom seriously! She cared for her children and many foster babies over the years. She had 13 grandchildren and was known to spoil them a bit more than her children.

Joanne was often found cheering on the sidelines at all family activities. In her free time, she was a crafter and was especially gifted at ceramics and crocheting, making many keepsakes to share with others. She also enjoyed Bingo and trying her luck at pull tabs.

She is survived by her children: Kevin (Joyce) Wagner, Brad (Patty) Wagner, Terry Wagner and Wendy (Shawn) Johnson, as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 (+ 2 on the way) great grandchildren, her brothers Dennis (Sheryl) Engstrom and Douglas (Sondra) Engstrom, her sister-in law Elva Engstrom, her sister-in-law Marge Ellis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents Arthur and Gladys Engstrom, her mother and father-in-law Theodore and Emma Wagner, her brother Jerome Engstrom as well as other loved ones and friends.

A private celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
