Darrell Lowell Anderson, 75, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on March 4th, 2026.
Darrell was born on December 17th, 1950, in Karlstad, Minnesota, to Gunnar and Mildred Anderson. He graduated from Karlstad High School and went on to further his education at North Dakota State University. He then started working for the State of Minnesota as a seed potato specialist. He later returned to college at the University of North Dakota, where he earned his second bachelor’s degree.
Darrell met the love of his life, Lois, in 1979 in Hallock, Minnesota. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family, fun, and the farm, where so many memories were made. They raised three children and created a home that was always welcoming to their family and friends.
Darrell found great joy in the simple things. You could often find him tending to his garden at the family farm, working on a new project, and following along on new adventures. One of his most cherished adventures was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii with the entire family. He enjoyed crosswords, chess, card games, and tinkering on farm and household projects, but his greatest pride was his family, especially his grandchildren. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at their sporting events and activities.
In recent years, he and Lois split their time, spending half the year in Florida, where he especially loved visiting the Disney parks creating many memories.
He is survived by his wife Lois; children Leslie Anderson, Scott (Sarah) Anderson, and Ryan (Katie) Anderson; and 4 grandchildren. His brothers and sisters; Mavis Krohn, Gary (Jean) Anderson, Elaine Jacobson, and Gerald (Connie) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gunnar and Mildred, and two young brothers.
Darrell’s kindness, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1st, at the Anderson family farm near Stephen, MN.
The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Hospital and Bethany Retirement Living (201 S University Dr, Fargo 58103) for their compassionate care.
