Charles “Chuck” Roy Pilon, 63, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota.
Chuck was born on April 19, 1962, in Drayton, North Dakota, to Jerome and Mae (Rivard) Pilon. He was the eighth of eleven children who grew up surrounded by the energy and love of a large family.
He attended grade school in Drayton and later went to high school at Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo. After graduation, Chuck briefly attended North Dakota State University, though as he would jokingly admit, cards, beer, and Domino’s pizza proved more enticing than attending classes.
Chuck began his working life at the State School in Grafton before pursuing a degree in Respiratory Therapy from East Grand Forks Technical School. He went on to dedicate more than 30 years to caring for others as a respiratory therapist, first at Avera St. Luke’s in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and later at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
In 1992, Chuck married Mary Beth (Berry). Together they were blessed with four daughters: McKenzie and Cydney, who died at birth and with whom he is now reunited, and Madison and Hannah, who were the light of his life and brought him immense pride and joy.
Chuck faced many health challenges throughout his life, yet he met each one with resilience and an unwavering positive attitude.
He is survived by his daughters, Madison and Hannah; his former wife, Mary Beth; his siblings, Rev. Daniel, Jim (Donna), Shirley (Whitey), Jean (Kevin), David (Shelly), Bob (Joni), Terry (Pat), Joan, Peggy, and Kathy (Peter); as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Michael (Marsha) Nygaard and Alan (Christl) Durand, and the entire Berry family.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, McKenzie and Cydney, and his parents, Jerome and Mae Pilon.
Chuck was a devoted sports fan who loved cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Orioles. In his honor, the family invites those attending services to wear their favorite sports team attire.
Chuck will be remembered for his ability to remain positive through life’s challenges.

My sympathies to Mary Beth, Madison, Hannah and families. I worked with Chuck for many years and he was a great guy. He will be missed.
I was deeply saddened to hear about Charlie’s passing. I have such fond memories of our time together at Cardinal Muench Seminary—he was always so happy-go-lucky, bringing lightness and joy to those around him. His strong faith was evident in the way he lived and treated others.
Charlie’s life of service as a respiratory therapist speaks volumes about his compassion and dedication. He touched so many lives with both his care and his kindness.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the memories of his joyful spirit and the lasting impact he made on so many.
