Toni G. Barnick

Toni Gale Barnick, age 73, Fargo, ND, passed July 31st, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.

Toni was born on February 16th, 1953 at the US Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, NC. Toni grew up at the family farm with parents Carol and Harold Kratochvil, near Lankin, ND.

Toni attended and graduated from Lankin High School in 1971. She had a variety of careers over the years, including working security at the Nekoma ABM site, and most recently working as an office administrator at the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in Jamestown, ND where she eventually retired from.

Toni had a beautiful singing voice and attended the International Music Camp. She was the lead singer in the band, Toni & the DJ’s. On October 21st, 2005 she married the “love of her life”, Fredric Thomas Barnick. Together they lived in Montpelier, ND where they enjoyed working in the yard, hunting, planting flowers, and spending summer days with their grandson, Landon.

Toni is preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents, Carol and Harold Kratochvil, and sister Debbie Hanson.

Toni is survived by her children, Dana Wood (Chris), Matthew Brodina (Trish), her step children, Anna Barnick, Ashli Kottsick (Greg), Fredric Adam Barnick III (Jess), grandchildren Lauren Wood, Jack Wood, Alec Wood, Matthew Wood, Landon Kottsick, Fredric Alander Barnick IV. Siblings Kathy Haroldson, Jim Kratochvil (Wanda), Donnie Kratochvil, Janice Kuchar, Michael Kratochvil (Pam) and brother in law, Greg Hanson.

A celebration of life will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND on August 5th at 2pm. Visitation will be at Boulger Funeral Home beginning at 1pm.

Toni’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest at a beautiful lake.
