Duane Quaschnick

Duane Quaschnick peacefully entered his eternal home on Monday, August 10, 2026, surrounded by his family at St. Catherine North in Fargo, North Dakota.

He was born on March 17, 1938, to Daniel and Hulda Quaschnick on the family farm near Ashley, North Dakota. Duane grew up there with his siblings, Donnie, Dwight, Douglas, and Debbie. He attended a one-room country school through the eighth grade before leaving school to help on the family farm.

At age 18, he entered the United States Army and served as a medic in Germany. After completing his military service, he continued caring for others as a medic at the VA hospital in Fargo.

While attending the Wahpeton State School of Science for sheet metal work, Duane met the love of his life, Adeline Sakry, in Fargo. They were married on October 6, 1961, and made their home in Fargo, where they were blessed with three children: Michael, Bonnie, and Randal.

Duane built his career in the sheet metal industry and, although retired, recently celebrated 60 years as a member of the sheet metal union. He and Adeline later moved to rural West Fargo, where Duane enjoyed the outdoors and treasured time spent with family and friends camping, tending his vegetable garden, fishing, and hunting with his sons, relatives, and friends.

The Quaschnick family would like to thank the staff at St. Catherine North for the care and love shown to Duane during his time as a resident. They will always have a special place in our hearts.

Duane will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (LuAnn), Bonnie (Duane) Grippe, and Randal; his grandchildren, Amber (Michael) Paulson, Stephanie Quaschnick, Travis Quaschnick, Allison (Felipe) Gonzalez, and Lily Grippe; and his great-grandchildren, Ian Paulson and Arya Paulson. He is also survived by his siblings, Donnie (Elma) Quaschnick and Debbie (Larry) Sinner; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Larry) Bailey, Ann Quaschnick, and Clarice Quaschnick; and his brothers-in-law, Donald Sakry and Steve (Sue) Sakry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Adeline Quaschnick; his brothers, Douglas and Dwight; his sisters-in-law, Jo (Gar) Albert and Kathy Sakry; and his brother-in-law, James Sakry.
