Harlan H. Pikop

Harlan H. Pikop was born in Fergus Falls, MN, on July 22, 1937, to Howard and Alice (Walseth) Pikop.

Harlan grew up on a farm near Elbow Lake, MN where he came from a family of county pioneers who settled the land as immigrants. He attended Elbow Lake schools and excelled in sports and music, as a quarterback for the “Golden Eagles” and as a drum major for the Elbow Lake band. He worked at various banks in Fergus Falls while raising four daughters. In 1980 they moved to Fargo, ND and he was a manager of Laundry Services at NDSU for 16 years.

Harlan married his high school sweetheart Marlys Udseth at Ness Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, MN on June 15, 1957.

Harlan enjoyed gardening, reading, and treasure hunting. He also won many blue ribbons for his needlework entries at the fair.

Harlan died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Bethany on University in Fargo at 89 years of age. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

Harlan is survived by his wife Marlys; daughters Cindy Zuehlsdorff, Karen Austin, Pam (Mike) Jeremica, Sherri (Dean) Christianson; his brother David (JoAnn) Pikop; sister Marilyn Sterricker; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Warren; and son-in-law Allen Zuehlsdorff.

Harlan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Marlys.

Interment will be at Ness Cemetery, Elbow Lake, MN. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
