After a long battle with cancer, Lee Michael Eisenbeis passed away peacefully in Hillsboro, ND on September 3, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on March 21, 1954, Lee lived a life defined by kindness, a brilliant memory, and an extraordinary dedication to the people and projects he loved.
Lee attended the University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks, a city he was deeply proud to call home. Professionally, he spent many years working for Kloster Dakota Bonanza Restaurants serving as the marketing director as well as having part-ownership in four restaurants in the Upper Midwest.
Lee’s greatest investment was always in people. Possessing a remarkable memory for the details of his loved ones’ lives, he naturally became the de facto family historian, keeping stories and connections alive. He deeply treasured his relationship with all his nieces and nephews and was deeply invested in their lives.
Lee brought a sense of care and order to everything around him; he had a gifted green thumb and took immense pride in keeping things well-kept at the family home in Hillsboro whenever he was able.
Lee was also a master at refinishing furniture, a craft he approached with love and perfection. He restored countless pieces for family members and strangers alike. In a true reflection of his generous heart, he frequently purchased second-hand furniture, restored it beautifully, and donated it back to ARC to help others.
Lee is survived by his loving mother, Arlene Eisenbeis of Hillsboro; his brothers, Jay Eisenbeis of Fargo, and Paul Eisenbeis (Shari) of Savage, MN; and his sister, Faye Pyle (Richard) of West Fargo. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Eisenbeis; and his sister-in-law, Kim Eisenbeis.
Lee’s warmth, generosity, and big smile will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A private family service will be held at the Boulger Funeral Chapel in Hillsboro.

I met Lee when I worked at Altru. He was a joy to visit with. We would talk about Wishek Sausage and Grandma’s Kuchen from Ashley. He was 10 days older and we made jokes about our birthdays! God Speed, Lee!!!
Arlene and family, so sorry for your loss. Many years of working with Lee at Kloster Dakota. We tried to stay in touch. We met for potato pancake breakfast in May, so glad we had that time to catch up. One year he gave me grief for not putting the girls age on my Christmas card, so every year after that I included how old everyone was in the photo, even the dog. He got a laugh out of that. One year he baked me a Red Velvet cake (from scratch) for my birthday. So many memories. I will miss our conversations. Rest in peace my friend.
