Vicki Sue (Bacon) Richard, 82, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2026. She was born April 29, 1944, to Marcellus and Jacqueline Bacon and grew up in Charleston, Illinois. She earned her degree in English from Eastern Illinois University and briefly taught high school English, with Romeo & Juliet being her favorite work to teach.

She met the love of her life, Glenn Arthur Richard, in Illinois, and the two married on April 7, 1969, sharing 57 wonderful years of marriage. Together they lived in California and Indiana before settling in Fargo in 1974, where they raised their two children, Michael and Susan. Vicki worked for several years as a secretary at Fargo South High School and also taught summer school there. She made many close friends through her work and church.

In 1999, Vicki and Glenn returned to Charleston, Illinois, to care for her parents. They moved back to Fargo in 2020 to be closer to their daughter, Susan.

Music was one of Vicki’s great passions. Elvis and Bon Jovi were particular favorites, and she loved attending rock and jazz concerts and musicals. She also loved cruising and traveling, playing cards with family and friends, and, by her own admission, shopping. She had a hard time driving past a thrift store without stopping.

Vicki was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church of Fargo, the Fargo and Cass County Area Retired Teachers Associations, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Vicki was known for her big personality, sharp sense of humor, deep love for her family and friends, and warm spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend, and a faithful Catholic who was excited and ready to meet Jesus and see her parents again.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Richard; her children, Michael (Tanna) Richard and Susan (Anna) Johnson; her grandchildren, Luke (Mikayla), Abigail, and Elizabeth Richard and Milo Weiss; her brother, Terry (Ann) Bacon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcellus and Jacqueline Bacon.

Visitation will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo on Friday, September 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service to follow. The funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church of Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Fargo National Cemetery.
