John Charles Jambois, 80, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, at his home in Lake George, MN.
John was born July 27, 1946, to Louis and Marie Jambois in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He attended several schools before graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1964. In 1968 he graduated from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was attending graduate school at Marquette University in 1970 when he enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam war. That year he married Betty Rahn and they moved to Rhode Island where John had his first assignment as a naval officer. After serving his tour of duty he began a business career with GE Plastics division, and then joined Intek Weatherseal Products in Hastings, Minnesota. In 1991, John entered into a partnership with Marvin Windows of Warroad, Minnesota, and started a manufacturing company, Tecton Products, in Fargo North Dakota. He retired in 2008, and married Kathy Jambois in 2010. John was a member of Rotary International and founded the Prescott, Wisconsin chapter. While in Fargo, he served on the Board of Directors at MeritCare/Sanford and on the Board of the Plains Art Museum.
John was an avid hunter and loved spending weekends at the lake with his family. He specialized in pushing people to grow beyond their perceived limitations.
John is survived by his wife Kathy (Mahler) Jambois; his daughter Kelly, and son-in-law Dusty Greisen, grandson Jackson Greisen and granddaughter Addison Greisen; stepson Josh (Nichole) Axtman, grandchildren A.J. and Samuel Axtman; stepdaughter Megan (Grant) McGraw, and grandchildren Elaina, Kaitlyn, and Ben McGraw; sister Jeanne Larvick, and brothers Louis (Carol) Jambois, Richard (Kal) Jambois, and Tom (Ruth) Jambois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie (Kelly) Jambois, and his wife of 40 years, Betty Rahn.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with visitation at 9 a.m. and a reception following.

We’re so glad we got to live next door to John. He was great company, and we learned so much from him. It was John who taught Nick how to mow the lawn properly!
