Mannie Sahn

July 12, 1968 ~ September 29, 2026

Today, we gather with heavy hearts to celebrate the life, love, and legacy of our beloved mother, friend, daughter and sister, Mannie Sahn. She was born in Liberia on July 12, 1968. Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for the life she lived, the love she shared, and the countless sacrifices she made for her family and everyone blessed to know her.

Mannie was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, strength, and selflessness. She was family-oriented and believed deeply in the importance of keeping the family together. To her, family was more than a name or a blood connection; it was a responsibility, a commitment, and a bond that deserved to be protected at all costs.

In the late 1980s, Mannie met our father, Newton Sahn. Together, they built a family and were blessed with three children. Before meeting Newton, he already had three children of his own. Yet, when their lives came together, she embraced the responsibility of raising all their children under one roof. She did not allow the differences in their beginnings to divide them. Instead, she helped create one home where the children could grow together as brothers and sisters. She loved, nurtured, and cared for them as one family.

When Newton moved to the United States, Mannie joined him two years later. Together, they worked hard and made sacrifices to build a better future for their family. Through determination, perseverance, and the strength of their partnership, they brought their five children to the United States leaving two behind in Liberia . Their journey was not without challenges, but Mannie continued to do what she had always done: work hard, cared for others, and put her family first.

Mannie was a woman who was loved everywhere she went. Her sweet spirit, kind heart, and welcoming nature made her special to those around her. She had a way of making people feel accepted and cared for. She was not only a mother to her children but also a source of love and support to other family members and people whose lives crossed hers. Taking care of others was not simply something she did; it was a part of who she was.

For more than nine years, Mannie also battled cancer and diabetes. Through these long and difficult years, she faced physical pain, uncertainty, and challenges that many of us may never fully understand. Her journey was not easy, and we can only imagine the strength it took to keep going. Today, as we look back on her life, we honor not only the mother who cared for everyone but also the woman who endured so much herself.

Life brought her pain that words can hardly describe. The loss of her son and our brother Levi was a heartbreaking experience, and the pain of losing a child is something no mother should ever have to bear. That loss left a wound that was never healed.

Mannie gave much of her life to others. Her life reminds us that the greatest legacy a person can leave is not measured by material possessions, but by the lives they touch, the love they give, and the memories they leave behind.

As we prepare to lay our beloved mother to rest, our hearts are filled with grief, questions without answers, and memories. We may wish we had more time with her. We may wish we could hear her voice one more time or tell her one more time how much we love her. But even though we can no longer hold her hand, we will always carry her love in our hearts.

Today, we must also remember the importance of peace within our family. Our mother’s life was dedicated to keeping family together. She worked hard to raise her children under one roof and showed us, through her actions, that love should be greater than our differences. As we mourn her passing, let us not allow grief, misunderstandings, old disagreements, or bitterness to separate us. Let us honor her by choosing forgiveness, understanding, compassion, and unity.

We may not all grieve in the same way, and we may each carry our own pain. But we share one thing that will always connect us: the love and life of Mannie Sahn. Let us give one another grace during this difficult time. Let us make peace with her passing. Making peace does not mean forgetting her, and it does not mean that the pain will disappear overnight. It means accepting that her earthly journey has ended and choosing to carry her love forward rather than allowing sorrow to tear us apart.

Our mother has fought a long and difficult battle. After years of illness and suffering, we now entrust her to eternal rest. Though saying goodbye is painful, we take comfort in knowing that her struggles are over and that she no longer has to endure the pain she carried for so long.

Mommy, you taught us the meaning of sacrifice, the importance of caring for others, and the value of keeping family together. You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be erased from our hearts. Your children, your family, and everyone whose life you touched will continue to remember you.

Rest peacefully, our beloved mother, Mannie Sahn.

You will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be remembered.
