Andrea Liv Thomte was born on April 27, 1943 in Boscobell, Wisconsin to Philip and Alice Thomte. She grew up in Coral City, Wisconsin with her two sisters; Kris (Astrid) Richards and Maren Spencer; and went to Coral City School, where she met Dale, the love of her life, in 1st grade. Andrea attended Whitehall High School in Whitehall, WI and Luther College in Decorah, IA. Andrea and Dale were married on June 24, 1967. They lived in Pine Island, MN for over 50 years and moved to Fargo, ND in July 2023.
Andrea taught elementary school and worked as the Community Education Director in Pine Island. Andrea and Dale traveled to all 50 states and lead student trips to Europe. When Dale retired from teaching, Andrea and Dale lead adult trips to Europe and other places in the world for over 20 years. Andrea suffered from dementia and was finally set free when she died on October 4, 2025.
Andrea is survived by her daughter, Kari (Matt) Bollant, son Erik (Kristen) Phillipson; and six grandchildren. Dale passed away on May 11, 2025. The 140 days between their deaths was the longest time they’d been apart.
They are together again and probably hanging out on Blueberry Hill or having coffee on the porch.

Andrea and Dale Phillipson were some of the first people to welcome me to teaching at PI. I recall the wonderful Friendsgiving meals, the Bible study group, and their general warmth and sharing their home and lives. I taught Erik in both 2nd and 4th grade. This couple leaves a bright spot in my life.
Andrea, Dorothy Edstrom, Diane DeBoer and I had lunch every other month for a long time. Andrea told us many tales of their European trips and the domestic ones. We always caught up on our kids and grandkids. Her decorating sense was superb. I shall miss her kindness.
I met Andrea and Dale when I started work at Pine Island High School. We became friends and went on some of the many trips with them. We laughed a lot on those trips. We had a lot in common and talked of faith, family, friends and jobs. Andrea had an office just off the HS office back in the day. Good Memories!

I don’t remember exactly when Dale and Andrea came to Pine Island…were they here the year before the gang in l969 arrived? Anyway, we enjoyed knowing them and having them in our church for awhile. And somehow we learned that they had been married in a ceremony exactly, down to the hour, that Tom and I had. June 24, 1967 at 7 p.m. After many years, we finally got around to celebrating together and went out to lunch or supper together a few times. I recall once, during Covid, when we ate outside in the sun! Fun times! Tom and Mary Bollman
