Angeline (Angie) Ding, age 94, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully December 4, 2025, at New Perspectives Assisted Living, West Fargo, ND, aided by the Sanford Hospice staff. She was born Nov 28, 1931, in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Joseph and Elizabeth Schafer. In her early years, she lived on a family farm outside of New Salem. Later, the family moved to Bismarck. Angeline graduated from St Mary’s High School in Bismarck, North Dakota. She later went on to graduate from Bismarck Business College. After college, she worked as a telephone operator for Ma Bell until she married Armin Ding in 1953. Armin enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 and they moved to Illinois and Connecticut, where they started their family with the births of her first two children. The family grew to add seven more children as they moved with Armin’s jobs in the defense industry, moving to North Dakota, Washington, Montana, and ultimately back to Fargo, ND.
She was a great homemaker, baker, and cook, all while raising her nine children. Angeline loved being a mom; she was always committed to her family. She was an excellent baker and cook of favorite German family recipes. The apple pie, rhubarb peach pie, and German Chocolate cakes she made were legendary, along with her pails of Christmas cookies each year. She loved to connect with family and friends and play many kinds of games, which included badminton, volleyball, and card games of whist, hearts, and rummy. She loved her family and connected often with her mother, brothers, and her children over the many years, fondly talking about her beloved Bismarck, where she spent her childhood and early adult years. She was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying football with her favorite Bison and Chicago Bears football teams.
She was a long-time and loved employee at NDSU food service and the Fargo VA Post Exchange for over 30+years, working until age 87.
Angeline was loved and cherished by many. She found her strength in life through her love for Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
She is survived by her 9 children, Deborah Moos, Dean (Barb) Bruhn-Ding of Ham Lake, MN; Dave of Litchfield, MN; Doug (Tina) of Bismarck, Dennis of Fargo, Denise Stephens (John) of Pittsburgh, PA; Dan of Fargo, Donna Eisenbeis (John) of King George, VA; Dawn Ding of Fargo; Brother James Schafer of Blaine, MN; sister-in-law Shirley Meier (Ding) of Centennial, CO; Kathleen Schafer (Steven)of Sarasota, FL: Lynne Schafer (Richard) of Seattle, WA; 13 grandchildren Jakob, Paul, Jordan, Isaac, Hannah, Brittany, Zach, Brandon, Amanda, Joshua, Avery, Alivia, and Geneva and 11 great grandchildren Beau, Tripp, Cash, Maze, Kit, Henry, Autumn, Brooks, Crosby, Oliver, and Sebastian.

Angie’s family would like to thank the residents and staff at Heritage House, Fargo, for their kind and caring neighborly support over the past five years. In addition, the family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of New Perspective Living and Sanford Hospice for the wonderful care and love shown to Angie over the past five months.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Ding family at this time. Positive she was welcomed into heaven by Jesus and family that went before her. May wonderful memories fill you all at this sad time.
God bless the family
I will always remember how much Armin & Angie enjoyed each other’s company. They always sat at the kitchen table, chit-chatting through the evening, while us kids roved around them.
Sorry for your loss, but it doesn’t surprise me that Angie worked until 87.
