AnnaLea Locken, born on May 24, 1931, to Albert and Marion Mueller on their family farm in Pekin, ND, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025.
AnnaLea grew up alongside her sister Patricia Holm, and brother William Mueller. She graduated from McVille High School and pursued further education at Interstate Business College in Fargo ND. Her professional career included roles at the Boy Scouts of America, Merchants National Bank, the Gilbert C. Grafton American Legion Post 2 of Fargo, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND, where she retired after 16 years of dedicated service.
In 1955 AnnaLea married Robert E. DuBord. She learned to love camping and was a skilled wild game cook. She was a loving wife, mother, and an unrivaled homemaker, cook, and baker. Her favorite books were cookbooks that she often read just for entertainment. Together, her and Robert raised their two daughters, Annette DuBord and Nancy Vihlen, who learned to share the same passions. She was also a proud grandmother to Lars Vihlen.
After Roberts passing AnnaLea found love again and married Peter E. Locken in 1986. The couple split their time between their cherished lake cabin on Eagle Lake and winters in Harlingen, TX. AnnaLea had a zest for life that shone through her love of cooking, trying new foods and restaurants, walking, laughing and spending time with family and her many friends. In last several years she lived at Gracepointe at Bethany in her beloved apartment where she found old friends and made many new friends. She led a busy social life there and rarely missed a function. Her warmth and joy left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
AnnaLea was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Marion Mueller, sister Patricia Holm, brother William Mueller, husbands Robert DuBord and Peter Locken.
She is survived by daughters Nancy (Dana) Vihlen, Annette DuBord (Cameron Peterson), grandson Lars Vihlen and sister in law Anez Thompson.
