Annella passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at her home in Hillsboro, ND.

Annella Thompson was born January 10, 1950 in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Lawrence and Agnes (Althoff) Terfehr of Wolverton and attended the rural Cottonwood School and Breckenridge High School. After High School, she went to the New York Hair Styling Academy in Fargo and studied Cosmetology.

Annella was united in marriage to Leonard Thompson of Blanchard, ND at St Thomas Catholic Church in Kent, MN on September 6, 1969. Together, they made their home on a farm near Blanchard, moving into Blanchard a few years later. In 2011, Leonard and Annella (Nell) moved into Hillsboro where they made their home. Nell worked in the Hillsboro community for over 50 years as a hairstylist. Nell enjoyed gardening, baking, card making and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Nell is survived by her daughter, Nikki (Jesse) Nissen of Bismarck, ND; her son Kyle (Ashley) Thompson of Fargo, ND; her three grandchildren Jace & Hannah Nissen and Branch Thompson; her siblings, Carol (Lowell) Siebels of Harwood, ND; Ron (Linda) Terfehr of Minot, ND, Mary (Dan) Walter of Bemidji, MN; Rick (Pam) Terfehr of Christine, ND; Laureen (Darral) Nordick of Rothsay, MN; Jan (Craig) Terfehr-Stockwell of Moorhead, MN and Sharon (Courtney) Oster of Pahrup. NV; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Thompson; her parents; sister – Benita Wheeler and in-laws (parents, brothers and sisters).

FUNERAL MASS: 11 AM Monday, December 5, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro – with visitation one-hour prior

PRAYER SERVICE/ROSARY: 5 PM Sunday, December 4, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro with visitation beginning at 3 PM

BURIAL: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro

  8. I am so very sorry to hear of Nell passing I worked with her at assisted living and nursing home she is going to be missed from everyone especially the gals in assisted living. She was one of the kindest happy person I’ve ever known

  9. I was very sorry to hear of Nell’s death. She always made sure that my mother, Norma Keena looked her best. We were having a 90th birthday party for my Mom last year. Nell came in on a Sat. to make sure Mom looked her best. Nell will be missed by many.

  10. I was lucky to have worked with Nell for many years! I had such a great visit with Nell a couple of weeks ago and am so glad we did! Nell was a very special person..so kind, loving , thoughtful and just beautiful inside and out! I will miss you dear friend and Nikki and Kyle I am so sorry for your loss!
