Augie passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the age of 86, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

August James Klinnert was born on December 28, 1938, the son of August and Ethel (Thompson) Klinnert, in Perham, MN. He grew up in Dent, MN, where he attended grade school, graduating from Perham High School in 1956. August proudly served his country in the United States Navy from January of 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962, then served in the Navy Reserves until 1965.

August was united in marriage to Suzanne Stigen in 1973. They made their home in Moorhead where he worked as a cook at Vic’s and also for the City of Moorhead. The past several years, August and Suzanne made their home in Hillsboro where he worked at the Ford garage until his retirement.

August is survived by his son, Tom of Fargo; his siblings – Eugene Klinnert, Gerrie Marcy, Eunice Bennett, Mary Barnhart, Vincent Klinnert, and Larry “Sam” Klinnert. There are many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Suzanne; and his sister, Lavonne Harrison.

Funeral Mass: 1 PM Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, ND – with a visitation one hour prior
Burial: Caledonia Cemetery in Caledonia, ND

  4. Augie was such a great fun guy. He and Paul shared so many adventures together—from hauling garbage to the softball field and deer hunting. Our thoughts are with his family.
