Beverly Jean Barnstuble

February 13, 1949 ~ June 26, 2024
Born in:
Grand Forks, North Dakota
Resided in:
Fargo, North Dakota
Beverly (Bev) Jean Barnstuble of Fargo, ND passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 75 (she would say she was much younger). Beverly was born on February 13, 1949, in Grand Forks, ND but grew up in Fargo along with her late sister ArNetta and brother Al. She was the youngest of the three. In her early days she was known as a tomboy, but looking back at her pictures she must have been the prettiest tomboy ever.
After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from NDSU, earning her final credits at UMN Morris. She married Bruce Barnstuble June 5, 1971. They had two children, Kerri and Brent, and lived in Alexandria, MN for the majority of their marriage. They ultimately parted ways upon returning to Fargo in 1986. She stated that having kids was the most joyful adventure of her life.
Bev overcame many challenges. She experienced mental health issues throughout her life. She demonstrated strength and empathy as an active member of the Myrt Armstrong Recovery Center (formerly known as the Fargo Social Club) and mental health advocacy boards. She enjoyed helping others as a direct support professional at Community Living Services where she worked for over a decade. She was a compassionate caregiver to her father, her sister, her friends, and her clients.
Her last hurdle was lung cancer. Remarkably, after 50 years of smoking she quit immediately after her diagnosis, completed treatment after treatment, and pressed on as independently as ever for 7 years. Due to this grit and determination, she had the chance to deepen her connection with her grandchildren as they grew. Bev was infinitely curious–she enjoyed good conversation and keeping up with current events. She sought out beauty in all forms and was a talented visual artist. Health issues didn’t stop her from taking her scooter into Macy’s for some power shopping even at the end.
Beverly loved her family and left behind her brother Al Homme (wife Luci Homme) of Miles City, MT and her two children Kerri Barnstuble (Ed Brands) and Brent Barnstuble (Ingrid Barnstuble) all of Morris, MN. In addition, she said goodbye to 5 grandchildren: Luci Bransel (21), Cyrus Bransel (18), Sage Barnstuble (18), Clare Barnstuble (16), and Alice Barnstuble (9)—who will miss her and carry with them many memories. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and LaVera (Wilkens) Homme, and her sister ArNetta Monge.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Retirement Living, West Wind Village, and hospice for their care.

Brent, Ingrid and the Barnstuble family,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dear cousins, so sorry for the loss of you mom Bev
Thinking of you both during this difficult time ❤️
Sorry for the loss of your Beverly. We had been friends for many years. I most recently visited with Bev at the Bethany cafeteria for a soda this last January and visited about how she missed her twin home but enjoyed the company of her neighbors at Bethany. I helped Bev with the purchase of her twin home in 1995 the excitement she had about her new independence was so gratifying . The day she invited me into see her new hickory floors was a very proud day for her. She will be missed ,such a down to earth lady.
Hi Brent and Kerri and family,
Our condolences are with you as you mourn the loss of your mother, Beverly. May she rest in peace.
– Aunt Jackie and Cousin Brian
RIP my friend!❤️
Sorry for your loss. I remember your mom fondly. We didn’t visit often, but when we did we had a good time. She had a beautiful smile. I always thought the Wilkens cousins had a special bond. I’m so glad I reached out to you and I was able to visit with her and talk to her about the cousins. May she rest in peace.
