Brad Paulus

Brad Paulus age 46 of Fargo, North Dakota passed away Sunday June 7th at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Brad was born in Mitchell, South Dakota to Dennis and Sheila Paulus (Peta) on October 5th, 1973. He attended grade school in Mitchell before moving with his family to Rapid City, SD where he spent his high school years. It was during this time that Brad discovered his love for Basketball; one that would remain strong and play a large part in his life. Brad had the honor of being hired by Coach Eric Musselman to work for the Rapid City Thrillers as a teenager and considered this to be the highlight of his high school years. After high school he went on to work as a coach in the IBA for both the Fargo Bees and the Dakota Gold until the league was forced to close for financial reasons. This experience proved invaluable as he gleaned numerous friendships and contacts in his time with the IBA and remained passionate about basketball and sports in general. Brad enjoyed a successful career in the retail sales industry, most of which was spent working for Karl’s TV and Appliance in various sales and management positions at several of their locations. Brad was not one to stay in one place for any length of time, never content to call just one place “home!” He enjoyed driving and thought nothing of getting in a car and traveling many hours just to meet up with family or friends. Alcoholism along with an internal sadness were unrelenting enemies he fought with daily and in the end proved an opponent he would be unable to defeat. We take comfort in the fact that it was now God himself that would be the one taking Brad “Home” this time. Grateful for sharing his life are parents Dennis and Sheila Paulus of Rapid City; brother, Brian Paulus of Sioux Falls; niece, Courtney Paulus of Sioux Falls; nephew, Tanner Paulus of Madison, WI; great aunt, Irene Nelson; aunts and uncles Sara Peta, Sharon Stearns, Larry Peta, Don Paulus, Shirley (Chuck) Landis, Jerry Paulus, Gale Paulus, and Sandy (Paulus) Bailey. He was preceded in death by grandparents Roy & Delma Paulus, Anton & La Vera Peta and aunt, Shirley Tietz. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a date to be determined.
