Bruce G. Kosak, a proud veteran of the U.S Navy, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 29, 2025 in West Fargo, North Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M.

The son of Robert Kosak and Gertrude Grennan Kosak, Bruce grew up in New Jersey. He was born on February 10, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey and attended Brick Township High School. At the age of eighteen, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He valued this service highly and while enlisted he attained the rank of First-Class Petty Officer. Upon completion of his basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, Bruce served as an Aviation Electricians Mate in Argentia, New Foundland, Canada and Keflavi, Iceland.

After his honorable discharge in April 1967, Bruce joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1970. In 1974 after graduating Farleigh Dickinson University (Magna Cum Laude) he was commissioned and later retired with the rank of Full Commander in August, 2000. Bruce’s total years of service in the Navy was 32 years, 1 month and 6 days.

Bruce’s civilian career was in retail, spending 25 plus years with The Home Depot. Before Bruce passed, his coworkers shared the impact he made in their lives and in the workplace:
– “You always brough a great go-getter attitude with you everywhere.” – Paul L.
– “You brought so much light and positivity to us, not just as associates but also to the customers.” Sienna V
– “You are the happiest person that I have ever met. Your attitude is contagious. You helped encourage me to be a better supervisor and person. Thank you for all the smiles that you brought.” Garrett C.
– “I will miss your smile, conversation, and presence at work.” Araceli
– “I want to thank you for letting me meet you! You are a great human! You brought light and kindness to us.” Beverly
– “Your strength and courage are truly inspiring. Please know that you’ve made a lasting impact on all of us.” Dan A

Without a doubt, Bruce loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Although Myra did need to compete with two other women in his life (both having four wheels). However, there was one love above all others for Brue, his Navy. He never hesitated to say, “I love my Navy.”

Bruce’s Navy gave an unmotivated young man the time he needed to grow up. It gave him the opportunity to attend and graduate college. Most importantly, it gave him a family he had never dreamed of at the age of 18. Like Bruce, I love his Navy.

Bruce is survived by his wife Myra; sons Matthew and Michael; daughter-in-law Jessica; grandchildren Lily, Josie, Aiden, Ben and Levi; his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Marilyn Kosak of North Carolina.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; brother Glenn; and son, David.
