Carmen Marlys McCormick, 80, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND with her son Tyler at her side.
Carmen was born April 7, 1944, to Olaf and Evelyn Christianson of Zahl, ND. She graduated from high school in Grenora and furthered her education in Fargo. She married Larry Jacobson from Alamo and they started a family in Williston. Later Carmen separated and married Jerome McCormick to whom she was married for 33 years. Carmen worked as the family business office manager at L&M Service Center and for many years as an accounting clerk for MDU Resources. After retirement, she cared for her mother, and following Evelyn’s passing, Carmen and Jerry moved nearer to family in Valley City.
In Williston, Carmen was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Outside of work, Carmen enjoyed reading, knitting, baking, and travelling. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren, attending sports games and performances.
Carmen is survived by her children, Scott (Laureen) Jacobson, Brookside, NJ, Jeff (Rachelle) Jacobson, Monument, CO, Tyler (Darla) Jacobson, Valley City, ND; Jerry’s children: Curt McCormick, Williston, ND and Wanda Blomberg, Williston, ND. Grandchildren: Andrew (Rachael) Jacobson, Savannah, GA, Nadine (Blake) Simpson, Bend, OR, Morgan Jacobson, Littleton, CO, Courtney (Tony) Watson, Colorado Springs, CO, D.J. Jacobson, St. Paul, MN, Drew Jacobson, Valley City, ND, Aiden Jacobson, Valley City, ND, Parker Jacobson, Valley City, ND; Taylor McCormick, Williston, ND, Cole Morth-McCormick, Williston, ND, and Shane McCormick, Williston, ND. Great grandchildren Barrett Scott Jacobson and Evelyn Christine Jacobson, Savannah, GA, and Zoey Faith Lucas, ND. Nieces Kim Tiedman, Minot, ND, Sara Frantsvog, Minot, ND, and Chad Christianson, Halstead, MN. Sister-in-law Karen Christianson, Minot, ND.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her first husband Larry, her parents Olaf and Evelyn Christianson, and her brother Dennis Christianson.
After the service there will be a repast at Boulger, followed by internment at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND.
Carmen’s family is thankful for all her friends and their loving support throughout her life. Carmen and her family also greatly appreciated the care she received at Bethany Retirement, Mapleview, SMP St. Raphael, and Essentia Health.
