Charles “Skip” William Krogen Jr, 75, of Fargo, ND, passed away on May 13, 2024.
Skip was born on September 24, 1948 in Fargo, ND to Charles and Dorothy (Tharaldson) Krogen. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central High School in Fargo in 1966. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Following high school Skip moved to the Twin Cities from Fargo when he was married in 1971. Together he and his then wife had three children: Tracy, Michael and Carie. While he was living in the cities, Skip worked at Minnesota Store Equipment. He would travel the country installing walk-in coolers. When the company he worked for closed, he started his own business, Northland Installation. Soon after, he was asked to relocate to Tennessee to go back to work for Minnesota Store Equipment, which he did. The company closed permanently so Skip started working for another installation company. In 2016, he moved back to Fargo when his dad passed away so his mom would not be alone and to help her out when needed.
Growing up, Skip was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He would get up before school to ride his bike outside of Fargo (which was pretty small then) to go hunting for pheasant. When he was young, he would hunt and fish with his very close friend from grade school, Warren Wilson. They continued hunting together into their adult years. When they were old enough, Skip taught his children to fish and hunt. Skip had quite a sense of humor. When he was with his kids there was always laughing and joking going on. Having a good time was something that was important to him and he tried to share that with others around him. It is something that will never be forgotten. He loved to go on walks. When he had an been injured at work, he would take the kids to Lone Lake to fish for bullheads. When he could, he would go bike riding with his kids in the neighborhood they lived in. One fond memory his children have is when he would let them sit on his lap and “drive” around in the neighborhood. He even let his oldest daughter drive his car on a dirt road when she was barely able to reach the pedals or see over the steering wheel during a family hunting day. His granddaughter, at the age of 2, sure enjoyed driving in the neighborhood too! He also was a coach for his sons Little League team. Like his father before him, he enjoyed golfing. His children will always remember and cherish the love he gave to them. No matter what, they always knew how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. Skip loved to sit outside to enjoy nature. Sitting on his patio was something he did every day that he could. He decorated his yard and patio with plants and flowers. It was a beautiful oasis for him.
Skip is survived by: Children: Tracy Krogen, Michael Krogen, Carie Krogen; Grandchildren: Christina Krogen Weibel, Jordan Krogen Miracle, Sean Merrifield, Charlie Jo Nalls, Kelley Krogen, Samuel Clark, Cody Clark, Tanner Krogen and Kirian Krogen; Great-Grandchildren: Easton Spurlin, Carter Rollefstad, Haven Miracle, Emmit Miracle, Cole Goulet, Eleanor Goulet and Everleigh Goulet; Siblings: Darryl Krogen (Tomi), Linda Krogen-Brandt (Muff) and Dan Krogen; and Nephew and Niece: Kristofor Krogen and Tiffani Tschida. He was preceded in death by: Dad Charles W. Krogen Sr; Mom Dorothy I. Krogen (Tharaldson); Brother Kevin Krogen; Nephew Kurt Krogen; Paternal grandparents William and Agnes Krogen; Maternal grandparents Thomas Tharaldson, Clara Rude Tharaldson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There are no words to convey the enormity of the loss his children and grandchildren are feeling. Skip chose to be cremated and asked that there be no memorial service.
