Clarice Adelle (Robertsdahl) Meyer, age 75, passed away peacefully November 14, 2020 due to cancer. She was born December 23, 1944 in Fargo, ND to Clarence and Adeline Robertsdahl.
Clarice grew up a farm girl near Christine, ND, where she also went to school most of her life before graduating from Colfax High School in 1961. With her diploma in her hand and big dreams in her heart, she moved to the big city – Wahpeton, ND - attending Wahpeton School of Science, and where she met and married Robert Chevalier, the father of her two sons, Jim and Jay.
After getting her Associate Degree in Secretarial School, she took her short-hand skills to Fargo and got her first big break at Merchants National Bank. For the next twenty years, she worked her way up the career ladder of Office Management while raising her two active children as a single mother.
In addition to driving her boys around to their various sports games, leagues, and clubs, Clarice was also very active in the community through sports, playing on softball teams and in bowling leagues for many years, as well as being active in the church as a confirmation mentor and Sunday School teacher, where she could instill in others her firm belief and values of “Love thy neighbor”, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, and “To err is human, to forgive divine”.
She worked for F.C. Hayer Co., and R & R Transportation, before landing what turned out to be her dream job at the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, where she worked for twenty-three wonderful years. She loved being a part of the Redhawks community more than any other time in her life. She lived for the time she could spend with all her co-workers, players, and fans, and all the close friends she met in the Redhawks community.
She was survived in death by her two sons James Chevalier of Fargo, ND and Jay (Ginna) Chevalier of Encinitas, CA, her four granddaughters Amber (Paul) Plambeck, and Alicia, Andrea, and Arica Chevalier: her sisters Arla Hanstad, Linda Niekamp, and Monica (Kevin) Gulbrandson, her two brothers Corey and Jeff Robertsdahl: one great grandchild William Plambeck: and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Adeline Robertsdahl, her partner Bill Marks, and brother-in-law Phil Hanstad. All of whom she loved deeply.
Clarice,
Thanks for being part of my life in those early days in Fargo. Rest in Peace. Your former brother in law: Larry Opseth
Love you grandma! We will miss you!
Jim and Jay, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a super lady. Bernice talked about her often. She was a true friend. I remember how proud Clarice was of her sons and grandkids. She talked about all of you often. She always enjoyed talking to people, but also listening and caring. She was the one that had a caring ear during some difficult times. She will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Rest in Peace, Clarice!!!
Dear family – I was so surprised and sorry to hear about Clarice. I know Clarice because Adeline was a member of the Hickson Church I served, and she was one of Adeline’s children who were so present and good to their mom. Please accept my condolences! Karin Moberg – Pastor for Shepherd of the prairie parish.
We are so sorry for your loss. Carolyn and I always had a great and interesting time playing with Clarice and her sisters when we were young and staying with Grandpa Carlott and Grandma Edna. Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs.
We cherish the memories we have; As Clarice was our supervisor for 12 years; when we worked for the RedHawks. We trust that the memories you have will comfort you during this trying time. Gods Blessings!
Vince & Mabel Dalke
You were a loving, spirited woman, Clarice. I always admired your knack for storytelling, rivaled only by my Grandpa Phil. I’m so glad he met Arla so our families could be brought together and I could get to know you. I’m glad you are resting peacefully. Go RedHawks!
It’s not gonna be the same walking into the ball park without you sitting at your table. Every time I give out a Tootsie Roll or a bit a honey will think of you. Linda’s definitely going to miss those hugs you gave her every game.
Clairce.. We will miss you and we love you so much. I’m gonna miss seeing you at family events and having our chats. I will never forget you. Rest easy. Till we meet again.
