May 15, 1955 ~ September 3, 2025

Born in: Eureka, South Dakota
Resided in: Fargo, North Dakota

Craig Heupel passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at his residence in Fargo, ND under the care of hospice and his devoted wife Pam after a courageous cancer battle.

Craig Dixon Heupel was born May 15, 1955, in Eureka, SD, the second of three children born to Royal and Marcella Heupel. If you knew Craig, then you knew he was from Eureka and proud of his German-Russian heritage. When Craig was in middle school, his family moved to West Fargo, ND. It is there that Craig would meet the love of his life, Pamela (Pam) Blilie. As he would fondly recall, he “won” Pam in a cakewalk in the seventh grade. During his junior year of high school, Craig and his family moved to Osseo, MN. In 1973, Craig graduated from Osseo High School; however, he was such an enduring presence at West Fargo High School that many of his former classmates believed he graduated as a Packer with them and invited him to all the high school reunions.

Following high school graduation, Craig attended Anoka Technical College in Anoka, MN, where he earned a certificate in auto parts, beginning Craig’s career in the automotive industry. He worked his way up through car dealership management, holding various roles as parts manager, service manager, general manager, and operating partner before starting his own business in automotive aftermarket products.

While Craig was passionate about cars, his biggest and proudest accomplishment was his family. He married Pam in 1974 and then went on to celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss, partners in love and life. They welcomed triplets in July of 1978 when Carly, Kit, and Chip arrived 10 weeks early. Craig had four grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Heupel, and Amelia and Oscar Gaddie. Craig was a supportive grandpa, driving the grandkids to early school rehearsals, attending their various activities while waving from the audience, and helping teach them not only how to drive but also about the importance of a clean car when the older ones became licensed drivers. During the pandemic, Craig added his beloved dog Elliott to the family, and the two became inseparable.

When asked about his hobbies or interests, Craig would simply reply, “I have my family. My family is my hobby.” He enjoyed family time at Toad Lake fishing and pulling anyone on the tube for an assuredly wild ride. Craig and Pam were fortunate to travel together throughout their marriage, and Craig, ever the extrovert, loved meeting new people and hearing their stories, be it on an airplane, the beach, in a cab, and everywhere in between.

Craig is survived by his wife Pam; children Carly Gaddie, Kit Heupel, and Chip Heupel; and grandchildren Jacob and Emma Heupel, and Amelia and Oscar Gaddie, all of Fargo; as well as his sister Debbie Brudvig and brother Ross Heupel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Marcella Heupel.

Memorials may be made to the Fargo Public Schools Development Foundation Critical Needs Fund and/or the Great Plains Food Bank.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Craig Heupel was a wonderful man. We met him because of our relationship with Alpha Warranty but that soon became a personal relationship with Craig. The trips he made to see us in NY and our trip to Salt Lake were made memorable because of Craig.
He never failed to express his friendship and he very sincere when expressing his love for his beloved Pam and his whole family. We may have lost a wonderful friend but heaven inherited a great example of everything we all
Should aspire to be. RIP my friend, you will be missed.

  2. Pam and Family…..I am so sorry for all of you regarding Craig’s passing….alway enjoyed working with Craig….was a great guy!

  3. Prayers of comfort and peace are lifted up for you Pam, Carly, Kit, Chip and families. Craig always had a smile and true interest in catching up when we saw each other.

  4. Craig’s bright and energetic personality brought light into the room wherever he went. His beautiful, engaging smile made one smile just by looking into his enthusiastic face.

Together with Pam (Blilie) since 8th
grade, he was a dependable husband whom she could count on. He spoiled his grandchildren and was a wonderful father.

Craig made long-lasting friendships of whom will cherish their memories forever.

  6. 💔 was a really positive influence & mentor in my business and a friend who was super kind when I lost my husband and loved to brag about his family. Made the world a better place. 🙏

  7. So sad, gone way too soon. I didn’t know Craig well but I always liked and respected him. I remember him as parts manager at Overvold’s Oldsmobile. He would help me with a little sponsorship from Overvold’s as I was drag racing a 1969 Oldsmobile 442. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

  8. I’m so sorry to hear about Craig’s passing. Craig was a wonderful person, who always lit up the dealership during his regular check-ins with laughter, jokes, some well-intended razzing, and his contagious smile! He was passionate about his work, and I could always count on him to help us in any situation. Craig loved to share about his family, his beloved wife, Pam, his children and grandchildren. He spoke so fondly of all of you, it made us feel like we knew you as well! You were the joys of his life!
May God wrap His loving arms around you all during this time, and may your memories bring you comfort.

  9. Craig was a good friend and Mr Car Warranty to me. We did a lot of business over the years back in the day. His sons would call on our car store as well. Sure will be missed by so many. Rest In Peace my friend.

  10. Craig had such passion for the work he did, and it truly showed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

  11. Craig was one of the nicest guys I have ever known. Here at Classic, Brad and I have known and worked with Craig for over 13 years.
