Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I will miss the old crumudgeon. Always playing the cynic and trying to make sure the world couldn’t see how much he cared. Occasionally his caring would shine through and it was touching. My your good memories of Dan bring you comfort in this time of transition.

  2. What a guy!! An amazing guy- funny, loving, incredibly intelligent and well read. I’m sure we all have a few stories and some wonderful memories of Dan…we’ll miss him so. Now he joins Jenny (Geraldine) and is at peace. Love you both, our dear friends.

  3. I knew all the Beatons growing up. Lost touch as it has been many many years since I lived there.
I remember him. My most sincere sympathy.
    Mary Tallman

  4. I didn’t get to see my grandpa much, I was planning to make two clay recreations of his first two dogs, may they rest in peace (along with him). I’m really gonna miss him, I loved him so much, but sadly, every person dies, and every person is mourned…

  5. To Dan’s family. How sad I was to hear your dad died. He was such a nice guy.
I didn’t know him well, but enough to appreciate his sense of humor and sly quick wit. Always a treat for me to see him at Tailgators, when he was with his many friends.
    I didn’t know your dad’s name was Dan. I only knew him as Max…and I guess that’s
    2 X’s.
I’m glad for your dad, that there are dogs
    in heaven 🐾

  6. Tho we had mutual friends and acquaintances, I’ve only known Dan for 20- couple years. During that time 8 of us formed an informal group of friends and we met several times weekly for what we laughingly referred to as “safety meetings”. Our motto was Drive fast and take chances! We’ve lost and gained some members over the years but have shared lots of life’s most poignant moments and some of the gallows humor involved in reaching our advanced state of dotage! We celebrate birthdays and Christmas and each other’s small triumphs over some large obstacles. Dan was always up for a good argument or a good fishing trip, ball game, or concert. We’ll sadly pass the gavel but there will always be an empty spot at future safety meetings and we’ll miss the walleye and shrimp only Dan could make so well. Rest well, friend.

  7. I was heartbroken to hear of Dan’s passing. Dan was one of my favorite customers at Southgate Hornbachers over the last 10 years. We bonded over our dog stories and lost our dogs at the same time. Then shared stories about his new dog and my new pet rabbit. We chatted at the RedHawks games and talked about them together. His smile and laughter made my day! He will be greatly missed by myself and many of my fellow co workers.

  8. I just found out about Dan’s passing.
We rode together to together in the early years on the railroad. We kept in touch over the years on. I really enjoyed his sense of humor!
    . RIP
