Darold M. Miller, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at his beloved home in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by family and under the caring embrace of HIA Hospice.

Born on October 10, 1947, in Elgin, ND, Darold was the son of Marvin and Irene (Koepplin) Miller. He spent his formative years in Elgin before moving with his family to Hebron, ND, where he graduated from high school. It was during these youthful days that he met the love of his life, Marie Kudrna. Their bond blossomed into a lifelong partnership, culminating in their marriage on June 14, 1969, in Dickinson, ND. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Fargo, where they raised two daughters, Sondra and Kari.

Darold dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Twin City Hardwood Lumber Company, later known as Lake Elmo Hardwoods, and concluded his working life at Forum Communications Company in Fargo’s Automated Mailing Services. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he served in the United States Army Reserve for over 21 years, exemplifying a steadfast dedication to his country.

Darold was a man defined by his love for family. He valued every moment spent with his daughters and was truly the heart of his family, particularly reveling in the joy that came from being a grandfather. His grandchildren—Ethan Johnk, Alexis Triptow, Justin Triptow, and Brennan Triptow—were his greatest pride, and he was unwavering in his support at their sporting events, concerts, and dance recitals. Darold’s passion for woodworking, gardening, playing Pinochle with family and friends, and meticulous yard work brought him joy, as well as spending time watching his favorite western movies in his cozy family room. In recent winters, he and Marie enjoyed several weeks in the warmth of Arizona, creating cherished memories with family.

Darold is survived by his devoted wife, Marie, of Fargo, ND; daughters Sondra (Fred) Johnk of Moorhead, MN, and Kari Moe of Pensacola, FL; his four beloved grandchildren; his brother, James Miller of Bismarck, ND; and several special nieces and nephews who hold a dear place in their hearts for him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Irene, his parents-in-law, Peter and Minnie Kudrna, along with sisters-in-law Arlene Wock and Georgian Pannone, and brother-in-law George Kudrna.

A celebration of Darold’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2 PM at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo, with a visitation occurring one hour prior to the service. Following the ceremony, Darold will be laid to rest at Fargo National Cemetery near Harwood, ND.
