Diane F. Haug, 80, of Norwalk, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. A graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Diane was born in Hankinson, ND, on March 27, 1945, to Albert and Louise Franz. She spent her childhood in Hankinson with her seven brothers and sisters.

Diane met Duane Tollefson and married September 8, 1965. They moved to Fargo to start their family. Diane spent most of her years as a homemaker, shuttling her children to various sporting activities, but she also worked part-time in retail. Duane passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma January 5, 1980.

Diane met Kenneth (KJ) Haug and married July 28, 1983. They resided in Fargo with their four children and spent many weekends at Lake Melissa, MN.

After KJ’s passing on May 26, 2003, Diane followed in her children’s footsteps and moved to Iowa, where she retired and made her home in Norwalk for the remainder of her life.

Diane cherished every moment spent with her family, finding special joy in the precious years when her grandchildren were young. She treasured the weekly family card games, which were always filled with laughter and friendly competition. Diane’s love for live music and dancing brought many happy memories, filling her life and the lives of those around her with joy, laughter, and love.

She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family. Her joyful spirit, generosity and warm laughter touched those who knew her, leaving many lasting memories.

Diane is survived by her children, Denise (Tollefson) Kinkade and Darren (Sarah) Tollefson; her stepchildren, Randy and Eric Haug; her two grandchildren, Mark and Emma Tollefson; and siblings Dan Franz, Viney Clutts and Mert Melvin.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duane Tollefson, and her second husband, Kenneth Haug; her parents, Albert and Louise Franz; siblings Bud Franz, Girly Hrdlicka, Grace Snell, and Delorse Whiteley.

Friends and family are invited to attend the service at Riverside Cemetery on June 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

  4. I had the pleasure of talking to your mom a couple time on the phone with Denise and wish I had meet her in person. She was a lovely lady to talk to.

  5. Diane was always so kind, welcoming and fun-loving. I had the privilege of knowing her through my sister Sarah and Darren, and she always made me feel welcome at family gatherings. I really cherish those memories now and send my heart felt condolences to the family.

  7. It’s been years since I’ve seen my cousin but the last visit we had was when her and Girlie spent the night with us ! Such a fun times growing and of course laughs!
    As a young girl I so remember all fun holidays we had with our relatives all the cards and laughs ! Diane and Duane were so good to us after my Moms passing! So sad to hear of her passing but I pray she will RIP.

    I will always have fond memories of family gatherings, playing cards into the wee hours of the morning, and good times. Diane was a great host and always made sure everyone was included. She had a positive impact on the lives of countless people! A life well lived!
