Diane Lynn Gustin passed away at home in Fargo, ND after a long illness on August 22, 2025.

Diane was born in Fargo on April 4, 1956, to Peter and Darlene (Brunette) Gustin. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1974 and Moorhead State College.

Diane devoted her life to serving others, particularly during her impactful career at the Veterans Administration, where she worked until her retirement seven years ago. Her compassion and commitment to our nation’s veterans were unmatched, earning her the fond title of “angel on earth” among those she served. Prior to working at the VA, her employment included Villa Maria Nursing Home and St. Johns Hospital.

Diane was a cherished daughter to her parents and a devoted sister to her siblings. Her genuine kindness touched the lives of many, earning her a reputation as a loving aunt, friend, co-worker, and dedicated member of her community.

Diane’s heartfelt dedication to her faith was evident in her active involvement at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN, where she sang proudly in the choir and led the prayer line, affectionately known as a “prayer warrior.” She embodied a servant’s heart, always ready to lend an ear and offer support to anyone in need.

Diane is survived by her siblings, Greg Gustin, Mary (Marvin) Knoell, Brenda (Kent) Rutherford; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; infant brother, Terry Gustin; and sister and brother-in-law, Debby (Virgil) Leach.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour prior. A private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo, ND, at a later date.

  4. So sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. I worked with her at the VA. May God comfort her family.

  5. I remember when I was a new employee, and a float. Diane was such a calm, helpful trainer. Just her domineer and voice made her so approachable, and it showed when I saw her interacting with Veterans. She was never too busy to listen, and would always check in with others if they needed anything. Such a funny and wonderful woman. Made working chaotic 2B enjoyable.

  6. So sorry for your loss. I met Diane working at the VA. Such a kind and gentle person. I always enjoyed visiting with her. Rest in peace Diane!

  7. I will miss you dearly my Friend and Prayer buddy. Rest in peace Diane 🙏
