I’ve known Don and Janet for 50 years. Don loved refurbishing old tractors. The sparkle in his eyes when he talked about them, the farm, anything…. he was a steady, decent, and kind person. He will be missed. He was a silent icon. Love always.
Don was loved and will be missed by all that knew him. We all were lucky to have known him and to have had him in our lives. He was an asset to our community. 🌹😥🌹
I so enjoyed Don at work when delivering or picking up truck loads at Dahlgren’s and Cargill over the years. Such a wonderful caring person. He would always seem to be in great spirits!
He will be missed.
Janet:
Sorry to see this. I knew Don in T. City in the 60s. He was a good mechanic and a good guy.
A member of our family whom we always looked forward to seeing. Janet, you chose wisely. What a man.
Love to you and your siblings,
Lora

So sorry to hear of your loss. Don was such a nice guy.
We learned so much from Don when we lived next door. He taught us a lot about home repairs, but what we learned most from Don was patience and kindness. Don was one-of-a-kind and we were extremely fortunate to have known him.
Growing up with the “Stringer boys” in Tower City, we always looked up to Donnie. He was kind and considerate even as a teenager. My sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. Linda (Freund) Miller
Don would rent a semi trailer from the company I work for and I always looked forward to him coming in. He was such a nice man with any easy smile, a genuine gentleman every time I talked to him. Very sorry for the family’s loss of this kind soul.
Janet, So sorry to read of the loss of your husband. My sincere sympathy to you and your family

I grew up with Donald, who was two years older than me. He was a fine example to follow. Always a good friend, I followed his model. I was close to Donald’s two brothers, Robert and Richard too, and we all followed his example in our own ways. When I was a senior at Tower City High School in 1967, Don volunteered for the US Army and became an infantryman. After training, he was posted to a combat unit in Vietnam for a year in what was a very hot war. He came back home after his tour and to me he was the same man when he left but I could see combat had matured and honed him. I followed his model into the Army after two years at NDSU. Don was a true friend my whole life with common values. We lost a great man, and I already miss him greatly. I was a much better man and Soldier for following him.
Don was always a gentleman and respectful. I was a year older than Don at Tower City High School. RIP Don
Janet- you and Don were the best neighbors ever! He and our other good neighbor would tag team helping me out with snow removal – for YEARS! Just the most decent, kind man. Never in all these years have I ever heard you say anything negative about him! Only gratitude for the relationship you shared and how “lucky” you were. The world was definately a better place because he was in it.
And his absence will be felt by so many of us.
With love and prayers for you and family!
Don, you will be Greatly missed here at Sunrich in Crookston! Fly high sir🙏🏻
This is Willa Jean Krueger Johnson. I was his classmate for the 12 years at Tower city public school. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my sympathy to his family.
Don’s death is still hard to believe ! We remember many stories of his growing up years in
Tower City. On behalf of our family and the church family we extend our deepest sympathy.
May the memories we all share be a blessing of comfort in the days to come. May those
memories be tucked deep into our hearts and taken our from time to time to remember
the kind of person Don was and the example he set to live his life.
Janet’s family become his family… what a blessing for the 50 years of marriage!
Don will definitely be missed at The Shack. He was always such a kind and fun customer to have around. The counter will definitely not be the same without him.
Janet, I am very sad and so so sorry for the loss of Don. It is my honor to have known such a genuinely kind and humble man. My heart goes out to you and all of the family, and I pray for God’s peace and comfort during this difficult time. May you always cherish the many wonderful memories the two of you have made. I ALWAYS thought of “Janet and Don” as ONE, always full of love and joy. I will always remember Don fondly in my heart. Don is an angel with his heavenly Father now, and may God bless your family, and may God’s peace be with you.
Respectful and with love, Janet
