Donald “Don” Tessier, 86, Horace, ND passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Don was a warm, hardworking, and enjoyable individual. A few of his great traits.
Donald George Tessier was born June 16, 1936, to Henry and Aldea (Pronovost) Tessier. He was born at St. John’s Hospital, Fargo, ND and grew up in Horace, ND. He attended and graduated school at St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy and was a lifelong member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and spent most of his active duty in Germany.
Don was united in marriage to Diane Cossette on September 13, 1958, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Wild Rice, ND, where they raised their son Dean and daughter Dawn Marie. Diane passed away in September of 1995.
In 1999 he married Marjorie McMullan. They made their home in Wild Rice, ND. They spent many enjoyable days at their lake place on Little Toad Lake. Marjorie passed away in December of 2011.
As well as being a lifelong farmer (retired 2006), Donald worked 43 seasonal campaigns at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, MN. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. His hobbies included gardening and spending time with family (especially his great grandchildren).
He is survived by his son, Dean Tessier, Silverdale, WA; daughter, Dawn Marie (Douglas) Berndt, Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Chad (Amanda) Berndt, Fargo, ND, Paige Berndt, Littleton, CO., and Elizabeth Pelton, Dilworth, MN; three great grandchildren, Harper, Avery, and Dalton Berndt; brothers, David (Marilyn) Tessier, Maurice (Isabel) Tessier; sisters, Judith (Walt) Kalbus and Delores Drake. Many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Diane, and Marjorie: brother-in-law, William Drake; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Cossette.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20 @ 10:00 am with visitation starting at 9:00 am at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th Street South, Fargo, ND. Interment to be held with family at St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, Horace, ND. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice.

I remember my cousin, Donald, and had the opportunity to visit with him when I was in Fargo a number of years ago. I was near to his age and I remember the fun times we had with him and his brothers when we visited our farm cousins. . Jacqueline Carol Tessier Keller from Colorado.
Dean and Dawn so sorry to hear about Don. He was great man he would always make a point to come and visit when I was home from Seattle. Plus all the memories we had with mom and Diane visiting all night and we as kids got to stay up all night with them. Great freinds and people 👏 prayers are with you all.
