Dorothy Marie (Munter) Halvorson was born on June 30, 1927 in Hillsboro, ND to Carl and Mabel Munter. Dorothy married Kenny Halvorson on October 25, 1946 in Hillsboro. They farmed in Hillsboro many years. Dorothy had been living with Alzheimer's for many years. She spent the last few years at the Lutheran Memorial Home in Mayville where she was loved and well cared for.
Dorothy enjoyed ceramics, music, and travelling. She was a 4H Leader, and member of her Church Circle, a seamstress, and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a caring and loving mother. She made a difference.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; her parents, Carl and Mabel (Doeden) Munter; her sister, Arlene (Munter) Buringrud; her brother, Deo Munter; and her son-in-law, Roy Strassberg.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Marvyl Strassberg of Chandler, AZ, Mary E. Elliott of Hillsboro, ND, Dennis Halvorson of Chino Valley, AZ, and Nancy (Wayne) Dickhoff of Hillsboro, ND; her sister, Mavis (Munter) Malone; her brother, Kenny Munter; her grandchildren, Angie (Brent) Casavant, Mindy (Jarod) Bloom, Stephanie (Dan) Wall, Steven (Becky) Elliott, Stephanie (Adam) Smith, Carrie (Justin) Breidenbach, Nicholas Halvorson, Barry (Stacy) Dickhoff, Chad (Kayleen) Allen, Travis (Melissa) Allen; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
I am very sorry to read this. I have fond memories of Dorothy as a 4-H leader for the Bloomway Maidens.
My condolences to Dorothy’s family. I remember how friendly, kind, and happy Dorothy and Kenny were to my family. We didn’t have many visits but I remember how happy I felt when I did see them. You’re in my thoughts and prayer💕
Dorothy had the brightest smile! She is missed so much!
So so very sorry for your loss. I remember your mom riding horses with your dad when I would be out at my uncle Buck’s. I was in ceramics with your mom too. I really enjoyed her humor and laughter.

My condolence to the family on the loss of your mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wonderful person. I was fortunate to have had many laughs with her while doing ceramics.
Am so very sorry for our family’s loss! Auntie Dorothy was always so great to me! I remember when she used to cut my hair. I wish everyone to remember how caring and generous with her 💘. I loved her very much!
Always loved to meet Dorothy’s smile and pleasant laugh. Missed visiting her in the last few years. She left a wonderful family tho thanks for all your joy and love you share.
Oh Nanc and family, we are so very sorry for your loss! Dorothy was always such a ray of sunshine. I loved it when your Mom and Dad would be at Grandma and Grandpa Dickhoff’s. There were always sooooo many laughs. I’ll never forget looking forward to the parades because I knew the Halverson’s would be on their horses. I hadn’t met Dorothy until she was in the Meadowlark Lane, of Luther Memorial Home. My sister, Geri Voltz & I enjoyed our visits with Dorothy, very much!! She was a sweet, kind, gentle soul. Wish we had met her in her earlier years! God’s love & peace to her family….
