Eunice June Johnson

Eunice June Johnson, 89, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, under the care of Sanford Hospice House.

Born on June 6, 1936, in Hurdsfield, North Dakota, Eunice was the daughter of George and Dora (Walks) Andersen. She spent her childhood in Chaseley before moving to Fargo with her parents.

In 1961, Eunice married Duane Wallace Johnson, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fargo. Together, they created a beautiful family, sharing a lifetime of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Eunice worked at Kresge’s Dime Store and later helped Duane with their family business, Johnson’s Refrigeration and Appliance Repair. Above all, she found her greatest joy in caring for her home and family, creating a warm and loving environment for all.

Eunice’s heart was as big as her smile, and she found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved walking and biking and cherished every moment spent with Duane, especially their Friday night polka dances at the West Fargo VFW. Eunice had a gift for making those around her feel loved and welcomed, often offering a sweet treat from her candy dish that always seemed to find its place on the family dining table. Decorating for the holidays was a tradition she held dear, and her favorite color—purple—always made its way into the mix.

She adored spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy, and she had a special way of making each person in her life feel uniquely important. Eunice had a soft spot for bingo and could often be found playing with a smile on her face, surrounded by family and friends.

Eunice is survived by her four beloved sons:
Gary (Michelle) of Fargo
Daryl (Danelle) of Horace
Doug (Kim) of Ottertail
David (Nicole) of Fargo

She is also survived by her two dear sisters: Dian Nicklay and Sharon (Tom) Navarro; brothers-in-law Gordy Arntson and Roger (Barb) Johnson; sisters-in-law Beatrice Andersen, Lucille Johnson and Ilene Bolstad; as well as her nine grandchildren: Krystal, Jared (Hannah), John, Garrett (Kayleigh), Kylie, Kendra (Lane), Danika, Nathan, and Erica. Eunice was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Rheagan, Kam, Ryker, Ezra, and Lainey, who brought so much joy to her heart. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane, her brother Gene, and her sisters Joyce, Betty, Dorothy, and Sheila.

Visitation at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, Dec. 10, Memorial Service at 10:00 AM with lunch to follow at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. Graveside Service will be at 1:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo.
