Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our sympathies to the Rene family, we were neighbors down the street and Fred was always friendly and we enjoyed visiting.

  2. Kathy and rest of family, I was so sorry to hear that Fred had passed. We used to see each other once in a while. I will be out of town so unable to attend funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP Freddy. From your old neighbor

  3. Fred, Brad Stromme and I were inseperable from about 5-12 years old. I have pictures of he and I walking down the Alley to Jefferson on our 1st day of kindergarten. The three of us also biked to Detroit Lakes when we were 10 years old. Times obviously were a bit different then and we had a great time being kids and spending a lot of time together. Brad & I had tried to get together with Fred this past year and I now wished we would have tried to knock on his door. He truly was a great “best friend” and will be etched in our memories for life. Here’s to you Fred!! Our sympathies go out to his entire family!

  4. Janet – I’m so very sorry for your loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. Love, ReNae

  5. What a cheerful experience it was to run into Fred. We grew up next door neighbors. God bless Fred and his family. In sympathy and friendship – Randy Wimmer and family.

  6. Our hearts & prayers go out to the entire family over the loss of Fred. Remember that even death can’t take away the love and memories you had together; he’ll live on through you. God Bless ~

  7. Our sympathies to Rene’s family, During our youth, you would see Fred, his brother Jack, Brad Wimmer, my brother Brad and myself always playing baseball, backyard basketball, and football. I always remember Fred as someone who enjoyed life. R.I.P.

  8. I had the priviledge of knowing Fred through Sanford. Fred was always kind and caring. Rest in peace Fred.

  9. My deepest sympathies to Fred’s family. He was my neighbor until passing. He was always kind and would help with anything. If a storm came through he would go and check on people and make sure they were ok. He will be missed.

  10. Sorry to hear that Fred could not enjoy a longer retirement and be out on some golf course with friends laughing it up. I graduated Fargo South High in 1970 and remember seeing Fred there. I later saw him at the Greyhound Bus Station in downtown Fargo in the 1990’s and knew I had seen him somewhere before. I then worked with him for some 15 plus years with MeritCare/Sanford Security from around 2004 to 2019. I was Fred’s Supervisor for that time period and he was one of the best hires we ever had in hospital Security in my 29+ years of experience working with people. Fred was so very dependable and hard working and had great personal relation skills with staff, customers and our patients. Fred was very much appreciated by the nurses on our Psychiatric unit for his skills with aggressive patients and his humor. Fred worked straight night shifts and that was appreciated by me and everyone that did not like night shifts. When I did work a Saturday night shift with Fred or relieve him on a Sunday morning he would check out and was always headed home for a short time before he would attend mass at St Mary’s Church on Bdwy. I would often tell him to say a prayer for me. Fred told me about the fun times he had growing up in Fargo; I believe he had a very good life. Fred lived the Bible verse, ’tis better to give than receive”, he knew how to serve others. Thank you Fred.

  11. I first remember Fred when I was a young nursing student, riding the bus back to Fargo to attend college. The bus arrived at midnight in downtown Fargo and I was a nervous, country girl. Fred would offer a smile as he unloaded our luggage and I knew he was trustworthy. Years later I met him when he was the security guard on Meritcare/Sanford South University and I was the nursing supervisor on the night shift. Again, here was the calm, steady, trustworthy person I remembered. Most Saturday nights of our weekend to work Fred would order takeout from Giant Panda. When I heard he was ordering, I’d jump onboard to order too, as would several others in the building. Fred would end up orchestrating a big order and figuring out everyone’s bill. He’d pretend to be bothered with the responsibility but he was only kidding. I appreciated that he left promptly at 6am so he could attend Sunday Mass. Rest In Peace and may eternal light shine upon you, Fred.

  12. To Fred’s family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Fred was a great guy, I worked in the GS area and our dept shared the front office. Prayers to your family!!! 🙏 🙏 🙏

  13. My sympathies to the Rene family. I didn’t know Fred well. But I do remember being at his Parents house and visiting Uncle Ben and Aunt Dorothy. My Grandmother was Rita Rene. Fred sounded like an amazing, loving man.

  14. I really wished I had more opportunities to visit with you Uncle Fred. I enjoy the stories Mom have of you two growing up. The memories I have will live on forever. RIP

  15. Our family was close friends with the Rene’s in the 1950’s. Fred was a little younger as I was closer in age to his brother Jim. Fred’s sister, Janet, used to babysit us. Our Dad’s both drove for Greyhound and they would often take their boys fishing over by the close Minnesota lakes. Fred was always a good kid and a friend to all. May he rest in peace.
